Frank: As with any other trade, it takes a lot of learning and practice to make your own video game. Search on the Internet for any tutorials for your chosen program, but if you need further instruction, I'd recommend taking a course at a local (or online) school.

Perla: If your daughter is interested in developing the game herself, she can try any number of different kinds of game development software. A lot of this will have to do with personal preference, so check the local library to see if they have copies available to borrow.

I have a tween daughter. For the last year, she has been creating her "story" for a video game. She has her storyline, characters, names, levels, etc.etc.etc. She does her own artwork and background music. She has done this on her own. I would like to know if someone could advise on what the next step should be/

Jericho: You can develop a game using whatever software you'd like and self-publish it through your own website if you'd like. Alternatively, you can look into the platforms for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and WiiWare to see if those are more your kind of thing.

A game were you have life of a dinosaur.from a teen to a adult. but no mating. but everything else. u can eat or be eaten. and you can age but you can't die by age.you can choose a dinosaur from the triassic to cretaceous period. you can raise a family even though you can't mate. just meet a female or a male and the program will ask you do you want raise? this. program will let you do anyting a dinosaurs can do. from battle roars the territy fights. this program is a dino life.

Game Maker 7 beta is out, and I recommend using that. It feels really comfortable to me.

The page mentions Inform and then says ALAN is a far more natural programming language. But the new version of Inform uses English sentences so it seems like that would be fairly natural as well.

Sarla: Look into something called XNA Game Studio. That's free.

Sharpedo: There is a software emulation program called M.U.G.E.N. that you might want to consider. It's a fighting game engine that lets you import sprites that you can find online. It's not quite the same as Smash Bros, but it seems like it's pretty easy to use.

Pastizo: I've done a little research and it seems that a popular video game development suite for the Mac OS X is OpenGL. Look into that and then invest in a good tutorial book to teach you how to use the software.
