XBox 360 Backward Compatibility

Question: I thought the new XBox 360 played old Xbox games, but I tried lots of games and they didn't work. The Xbox 360 only told us to go to www.xbox.com. Should I return it to the store?

LoveToKnow Video Games Answer: First, let us congratulate you on getting your hands on one of the few 360s that was available before Christmas! In answer to your question, it is possible to play most of the Xbox games on the Xbox 360 - however, you must have the Xbox 360 hard drive to do so. If you bought the "core" system, you can buy it separately. This hard drive allows the 360 to "emulate" the original Xbox so you can play those games as well as awesome new games that you can only play on the 360.

Of course, if you do decide to return your 360 (!?!), you might find you can make a profit on it on Ebay instead of just returning it to your local retailer.

Mike: To my knowledge, all achievements and player data are tied to their original GamerTags and cannot be transfered across profiles.

i need to know something about gamertags can a file "say a tigerwoods profile" be transfered from one gamer tag to another?

Meena: What do you mean by save cheat codes? The functionality of a downloaded Xbox Original on the Xbox 360 would be similar to a downloaded Xbox Live Arcade title, working in much the same way. Game saves are saved to the Xbox 360 hard drive or memory unit.
