New Races
World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade offers two new races to the series -- the Draenei and the Blood Elves. Both will add a new element to the existing choices of races in WoW.
Alliance Race: The Draenie
The Draenie, or the “Exiled Ones”, are a race descended from the Eredar. The Dark Legions, who were determined to use every Eredar race’s abilities to achieve their goals, attempted to integrate the Draenie into their own demonic hordes. However, the determined race would not submit and fled the cosmos to find a save place to live. During their journey, they encountered the Naaru race that blessed them with the Holy Light of Creation, which gave them greater power. Later, after thousands of years of travel, the Draeni settled on a planet occupied by native Orcs with whom they cohabitated peacefully for many years. The Dark Legions' persistent searching eventually found them, and turned the peaceful Orcs against the Draeni by corrupting them into a war-like nature, which destroyed the majority of their race, and left the remaining survivors mutated into a less powerful subspecies. It is in this form that you find the Draenie in World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade.
Horde Race: The Blood Elves
Once a proud race of High Elves, they were almost completed wiped out by the undead armies of Prince Arthas. Their vicious army destroyed the elves' land, protective runestones and magical fountain upon which they drew their mystical power. Determined to survive, Kael the High Elf leader, taught the remaining elves how to tap into energies (including the darker demonic ones) to build up their strength. Blaming the Alliance for not protecting them from those once loyal to the Alliance, they separated themselves from them and changed their name to “Blood Elves” due to the fact that over 90% of their race was destroyed. Later they traveled to the Outland to find the Night Elf, Illidar, who helped them regain their power. Now strengthened with magic, the Blood Elves then strove to build a new future.
