Wii Sports Cheat Codes

The Nintendo Wii offers gamers a completely new experience, and it is with Wii Sports that Nintendo hopes to introduce new players to their unique motion sensitive control scheme. The following aren't exactly cheats, per se, but rather fun secrets, Easter eggs, and hints that just might add some extra replay value to the game. That, and they can be pretty funny.

Tennis

Tennis is perhaps the best known of the games available in Wii Sports. It's intuitive and fun for the whole family.

  • Change tennis court color: You'll notice that there are two different tennis courts. There's a green grass one for playing and a blue hard-court for practice and training session. Did you know that you could use the blue court for playing games? When you get the warning screen just after selecting your characters, starting holding the (2) button. You will then play at the blue court.

Bowling

Personally, I think that Bowling is the best game in Wii Sports. Here are few fun secrets.

  • Change bowling ball color: By holding each of the four different directions on the control pad, you can select a different color ball for your bowling session. Up, Right, Down, and Left correspond to blue, gold, green, and red.
  • Special bowling ball: Solid colors not enough? Achieve Pro status (1000+) with any Mii and from thenceforth, he/she will be boasting a uniquely designed ball with diamond insignias.
  • Crowd laughter: If you bowl the ball into another lane (turn all the way to the left or the right, and move all the over to the same side, delivering the ball nice and high), the crowd will laugh at you.
  • Scare the crowd: If you let go of the ball during your back-swing, you will spook the crowd which is watching you.
  • 91 Pin Strike: Want to get the best score possible in the Power Throw training mini-game? On the last delivery, there are 91 pins. If you are right-handed, move all the way to the right and turn slightly that way too (to the left if you are left-handed). If you can manage to get the ball to ride the rail all the way to the end, you'll hear a click, and then all the pins will explode in a shockwave, effectively giving you a 91 pin strike (worth 182 points).

Baseball

There haven't been any Baseball secrets unearthed to date. If you find any, please contribute your knowledge.

We do have a couple of tips though:

The speed of your pitch is dependent on how quickly you fling the Wii Remote, and the direction of your hit is completely dependent on the timing of your swing. For right-handed players, an early swing goes to the left, whereas a late swing goes to the right (the reverse is true for lefties).

Golf

Perhaps the most skillful and cerebral game in the Wii Sports package, Golf can be a lot of fun (and pretty hard at times).

For an added challenge, why not try removing all the helpful indicators on the screen? To do this, simply press and hold the (2) button just before the "Select a Course" screen. When you do this, you disable the power meter, map, and wind speed indicator.

Boxing

Think you're the best pugilist of them all?

Show off your boxing skills and unlock the silver boxing gloves! If you manage to defeat Matt, the Grand Champion, you will get some rather special hand coverings. When the screen turns black just before a boxing match, press and hold the (1) button to outfit your Mii with some silver gloves.

On tennis practice with breaking the targets, swing the wii remote like you're trying to hit the ball very very high. it'll hit high up on the wall which will 1) be very light and won't create holes as quickly and 2) you'll avoid dark bricks you've already created. i got a high score of over 40 this way.
