Wii Fit Compatible Games
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
Most Wii Fit compatible games use the balance board that originally came with the Wii Fit kit. While the games aren't with the actual Wii Fit game itself, you can use the balance board for the following list of games. Occasionally you'll see the balance board listed as the Wii Fitness Board, which is not the official name of the peripheral.
Wii Fit
The first game that is compatible with the balance board is the first one to come bundled with it. Wii Fit is a combination exercise game and video game. You participate in strength exercises like push ups; yoga stretching exercises; and balance exercises. The balance board is a unique tool in that it detects slight movements to determine foot position and weight distribution. Wii Fit, used on a consistent basis, can help you jump start a healthy lifestyle.
Wii Fit Compatible Games: Skate It
Since the balance board is about the size of a skateboard, it seemed only natural for a skateboard game to make its way to the Wii, utilizing the balance board to simulate skateboarding movement. In Skate It, you play a budding shredder that is trying to make a name for himself. You pull off tricks, take videos of yourself, and participate in challenges in order to rise through the ranks. You do all of this with the balance board. The board is broken up into eight zones that determine what tricks you pull off. You can use the balance board exclusively (not recommended for beginners) or a combination of the board and the Wii remote. For those extremely terrified of using the balance board, you can just use the Wii Remote and Nunchuck instead.
Wii Ski & Wii Snowboard
Less complicated than Skate It, We Ski and We Snowboard use the balance board to mimic the movements of the same live action sports. Both Wii Fit compatible games are available singly or as a double pack. You can purchase We Ski alone in a Family Ski pack that included games for multiplayer. The main use of the balance board for either game is to detect weight shifts and differentials to move you left and right, as well as to increase and decrease your speed.
EA Sports Active
Wii Fit was slight in its fitness level. Most of the exercises were built around Yoga and while that was fun, as were the rest of the exercises, the game didn't hold the deep routines that many wanted. Enter EA Sports Active. Containing over 20 activities and exercises, you may find that this fitness game holds a better workout if you are looking for high cardiovascular and strength exercises. The game comes with a resistance band to give you a little more push, though it isn't as strong as most would like. Thankfully, you can use any resistance band you currently have.
Don King Presents: Prizefighter
The balance board is used in the training scenarios to help with stepping and hip movement. This is pretty much the boxing exercise game in Wii Fit, so there's nothing new here, though you will find more activities and different training games than the standard step and punch in Wii Fit.
Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum
Jillian Michaels is one of the fitness trainers on the show The Biggest Loser. Among the Wii Fit compatible games, this one is a little more intense. You could say that it is in between Wii Fit and EA Sports Active. There is more of an actual program you follow that the game changes up depending on how you are progressing.
Raving Rabbids TV Party
For more of an entertainment game, try Raving Rabbids TV Party. You use the balance board to complete some of the mini-games, one of which is Beestie Boarding where you use you butt to maneuver a wildebeest down a slope. Yes, you read that last sentence right.
Other Games Compatible with the Balance Board
Here are a few other Wii Fit compatible games that you can play with the Wii Balance Board, though use of the board may not be as prominent as the above games:
- Tetris Party
- All Star Cheer Squad
- Wii Music
- Imagine Party Babyz
