Wii Bundles
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
There are no official Wii bundles that Nintendo authorizes, except for the one that comes with Wii Sports. Most retailers, both online and offline, create special packages that cater to many different types of gamers. Going with these types of Wii bundles can save you a little bit of cash, but sometimes you have no choice in the games. Consider this: if you are looking for a Wii in stock and you have a choice of getting a bundle or nothing, go with the bundle.
Buy.com Wii Bundles
Buy.com has a few bundles to choose from. The Action Bundle comes with a 1 GB memory card, an extra remote and Nunchuk, and the games The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, and WarioWare: Smooth Moves.
If you are a Super Mario fan, check out the Mario Bundle. You get the system, a Wii Power Station, and three games: Mario Strikers Charged, WarioWare: Smooth Moves, and Super Paper Mario.
Now if you are looking for fun in 2008, then Buy.com has a 2008 Totally Fun Bundle. Besides the core system with Wii Sports, you get the following games:
- Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour '08
- LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
- Pokemon Battle Revolution
- Big Brain Academy
- Super Paper Mario
- Mario Party 8
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Rockstar Table Tennis
- Bully: Scholarship Edition
As you can imagine, the Wii bundles that come with this many games certainly aren't cheap!
Walmart.com Bundles
At Walmart.com, you can find the Customer Choice Wii bundles. You get the console, the included accessories, Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Party 8. What makes this a customer choice is that you get to choose from a number of accessories to include. Almost every accessory is available, but some will add $10 or $20 to the price. You can add a Zapper and a Classic Controller for free, but a memory card will add $20 to the price. It's still a good deal, so choose wisely.
eBay.com Bundles
Listing any Wii bundles from eBay would be outdated by the time you read this. You can find some deals on eBay or even create deals when you sell video games, but be careful. The best advice is to keep yourself on a budget. Figure out what the cost would be new (especially if the seller is touting them as new) and work from there. Obviously, if the total is $699.99 for everything be sold and the price rises near there or past that, it's better to just wait and buy everything locally so you don't get ripped off on the shipping or from fraud.
eToys Bundles
eToys.com has some basic Wii bundles for you. In Value Bundle #1 you will get the system plus Chicken Shoot, Legend of the Dragon, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Fantastic 4: Silver Surfer. Value #5 gets you the system plus The Grim Adventures of Bill and Mandy, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, Transformers: the Game, and Thrillville Off the Rails. As of this writing, there are 10 value bundles you can choose from, it's just a matter of what kind of games your in the mood to cycle through on your first Wii outing.
Scouring the Internet
With some savvy Googling or Yahooing, you should be able to find some Wii bundles to suit your tastes. Start with the main online retailers because they have the ability to offer more options. Small time sellers, like those on auction sites, rely on the higher prices that consumer demand creates. They may have one or two types of bundles, but if you are wanting options, stick with Walmart.com, or a company that specializes in gaming, like Gamestop.com.
There's still the problem of the Wii shortage. Most Wii bundles listed on web sites are preceded by a disclaimer saying something to the effect of Wiis are sold on a first come, first serve basis as they come in stock. Be patient, you will get yours…someday.
