About AIM and Icons
AIM is a free instant messaging service through AOL. You don’t have to pay for their Internet service to utilize this program since other providers can be used. However, to run their latest version of AIM (6.1), you will need to have at least a Pentium III processor 200Mhz , 128 MB of RAM and 20GB of available hard drive space. You also need to be 13 or older to use the program. The AIM (which stands for AOL Instant Messenger) software can be downloaded for free by going to AIM.com. Once installed, you can create your own account and start chatting.
AIM icons are the small character, object or text images used to identify yourself or your friends when you IM. They can be real photos, computer generated cartoons or customized pictures you can make yourself. The standard size is 40x40 pixels, with the largest being 50x50 pixels. Online, you can find many websites that offer them for free, while others may want you to pay a fee or join a membership in order for you to access them.
