Meet Dylan
Dylan Duarte works part time through his local Americorps program as a literacy tutor. An ambitious young man with a passion for all forms of writing, he's trying to get a freelance writing career off the ground. At the moment, Dylan has several different writing projects under his belt and yet he still thirsts for more. He can't decide with form of writing he enjoys the most, so he plans on tackling several mediums at once. Hoping to make a career out of screenwriting, journalism, and comic book scriptwriting, Dylan has no intention of setting his sights any lower.
He hails from the small, beautiful town of Lucerne, California; right on Clearlake. He loves to go geocaching, which allows him to explore the mountains around his home. He also enjoys taking his Kayak out on the lake and does so as often as he can.
When he's not enjoying nature, his hobbies include movies, television, video games, and all forms of reading.
Writing Experience
Dylan joined lovetoknow as a regular contributor in January 2006. With his cooperative attitude and steadfast reliability, he has proved himself to be a valuable asset. He has written a variety of articles, such as video game reviews, previews, designer profiles, and more. One of his favorite reviews is his From Russia With Love Review.
He and his friend Jeff Morin started a website, Inner Nut Entertainment, to host all of their colloborative efforts. You can check out some of Dylan's films there, as well as a few of his earlier writing projects. Unfortunately, Dylan and Jeff have been extremely busy, and haven't been able to keep up on the website.
Dylan also works for NJC Printing, a local screenprinting company. He writes descriptions for all of the shirts, as well as most of the text on the site. He also helps with customer service, responding to customer emails. He has been with NJC Printing since the beginning and has helped it grow into a very successful business.
Last year, Americorps asked him to do film a video presentation for training new employees. He has also been asked to write articles and supervise forums for their website.
Dylan has only recently hit the freelance writing scene, but already he has made a name for himself in his community and is turning heads all over the internet.
I Game, Therefore I am
Dylan's gaming days began when he was a wee child, when he used to visit his cousins' house to ignore them while playing Mario Bros. on their Atari. Before he knew it, Dylan had acquired a Nintendo Entertainment System through some sort of black magic. Perhaps it was chance, perhaps it was fate. He still recalls the days when he would try to shoot the sassy dog in Duck Hunt, only to fail miserably and roll up into a ball, crying. Nevertheless, he rose again. Gaming was no longer a pastime, but an addiction - Nay, a requirement; a prerequisite to life! And so was born a lifelong tradition of pushing everything that he loved aside in order to play more video games. He neglected his studies; put puberty on hold. He climbed the gaming ladder, evolving with the systems. Now, he bides his time, awaiting the revolution.
He still hears the dog laughing in his nightmares.
