Transfer Mii
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
Your creatively designed avatar does not need to be restricted within just your console, because it is actually quite easy to transfer Mii characters between Nintendo Wii systems. The Mii characters are free to roam on other consoles too, playing along with the Miis found on those systems.
Share Your Mii with Friends and Family
Did you go over to a friend's house and find that she created some positively terrific Mii celebrities? Do you want to take the Mii version of Chewbacca and Han Solo over to your own Wii?
Thankfully, it is not difficult at all to share Mii characters with friends and family. There are a few different techniques that you can try, each with its respective advantages and disadvantages.
How to Transfer Mii Characters Between Wii Consoles
Even though the Nintendo Wii has an SD memory card slot, it is not possible to save a Mii on a memory card for transferring onto a computer or onto another game system. However, it is still possible to transfer Mii creations between consoles.
Save on Wii Remote
The Nintendo Wii Remote is used for all kinds of motion-based video games on the Wii, letting you swing the Remote just as you would a golf club or a tennis racket. The Wii Remote can also be used to save Mii characters for use on other consoles.
- While at the console with the Mii that you would like to save, connect your Wii Remote to this console and navigate to the Mii Channel. This can be found from the Wii's main menu.
- Along the right side, there is an icon that looks like a Wii Remote. When you point at it with your controller, it will tell you that this is the Transfer Mii option. Press the "A" button on your controller.
- Select the Wii Remote where you would like to save the Mii. Each Wii can support up to four controllers at a time, so make sure you choose the right one.
- Each Wii Remote can house up to ten Mii characters. Scan the Mii Plaza to find the Mii that you would like to save. Grab him or her by pressing and holding both the A and B buttons at the same time. Move the Mii to one of the available slots on the Wii Remote.
- Characters saved on the Wii Remote can also be transferred onto a Wii console's internal memory. This is a two-way street.
This method is, by far, the most straightforward and easy to understand. If you can play some of the great games on the Nintendo Wii, you should have no trouble understanding the basic Mii transfer utility within the Mii Channel.
Send as Mii Message
What if you cannot gain physical access to your friend's Wii console? Wouldn't it be better if you could send the Mii characters over the Internet? Thankfully, this is possible too.
To use this method to transfer Mii characters, you and your friend have to exchange Wii friend codes. These can be found from the Wii settings menu. When you add your friend, he will appear in your address book. Both consoles must also have Internet access.
From there, follow these instructions:
- As before, navigate to the Mii Channel from the Main Menu.
- Select the icon that looks like an envelope along the right side.
- Pick your friend from the address book.
- Choose the Mii that you would like to send.
- Click send.
If you would like to receive a special Mii character from your friend's Wii, you will need to ask him or her to send it to you using the method described above.
Search on Check Mii Out
Looking for some inspiration? The Check Mii Out Channel can be found in the Wii Shop and it allows you to browse the different Miis that other gamers have created. Any character featured on Check Mii Out can be saved onto your console too.
