Rampage

Missed the first games? Top 15 Video Games That Never Get Old

Rampage

Rampage the arcade game was release in 1986 by Midway. Gamers all over their world could finally act out their dreams of embodying giant apes, lizards, and wolf creatures and bring society to it's digital knees, one building at a time, while fighting off wave after wave of the US Military. Man, those darn kids and their quarter machines. The game involved you leveling a city as a giant monster, eating people, smashing vehicles, and climbing up buildings and punching the ever-loving hell right out of them. Rampage has seen numerous reincarnations since it's debut, but like most things, the original still reigns supreme. So go ahead, you child of the 1980s, plunk that quarter into that slot and eat that woman that lives on the 18th floor. Just watch out for bones.

Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 - Gamecube

Resident Evil 4 is an action/adventure/survival horror/shooter all rolled into one unbelievable package. Voted best game of 2005 by several video game website and publications, Resident Evil 4 is the umpteenth edition to the long-running Resident Evil franchise. Taking the series in a completely new direction, Resident Evil 4 blends the tried and true creepiness of the earlier franchise installments with top notch graphics, a free-roaming camera, and all new gameplay mechanics. Resident Evil 4 is the only game I've played that I've wanted to start up all over again right after I beat it. The action is fast-paced and intense, and varied enough to keep you planted in your seat. Not to mention, it boasts some of the best boss battles of it's time. (DylanDuarte)

Sonic The Hedgehog

Sonic The Hedgehog

I remember when Sonic the Hedgehog first came out. I didn't even know what a hedgehog was. Imagine my surprise when I found out that they were real, and imagine my disappointment when I found out that they weren't fast nor blue. Sonic is one game that's just as fun now as it ever was. Racing at breakneck speeds through futuristic jungles, Sonic captured the hearts of many. But that Dr. Robotnik! What a jerk! Capturing all those forest animals and trapping them in those metal containers with that conveniently placed open button on the top. For a doctor, he wasn't very smart. And he had a ridiculous mustache too!

Super Mario 64

Super Mario 64

It's a me, Mario! When Mario 64 first came out for the Nintendo 64, jaws were dropping all over the place. The graphics, the gameplay, and the sheer size of the game cumulated into the stuff dreams are made of. That formula holds just as true today as it ever did. Mario 64, in this humble reviewers opinion, still remains the undefeated champion of 3D platformers. On top of that, to see the Mushroom Kingdom fully realized in 3D is just too bizarre to pass up! And with Mario 64's re-release on the Nintendo DS, the good just got better!

Tetris

Tetris

It's Tetris! Come on people! Forever embedded in the minds of gamers everywhere, this revolutionary puzzler still remains afloat today amongst a sea of mediocre current-gen puzzle games. And even though Tetris has gone through several incarnations, the original formula still stands out as the best and by far the most addictive. And the best part! Crazy Russian music! Tetris had a better soundtrack than most games out today! Sometimes it's good to go back to the basics, and you can't get anymore basic than Tetris. Tetris is where it's at.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time

The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time shouldn't even be on this list. It clearly transcends the mortal title of "Game That Never Gets Old" and has risen to the status of "Game That Never, Ever Gets Old." Ocarina of Time was a complete and utter smack in the face to all of the companies trying something "new" and "innovative." Nintendo successfully took a brilliant 2D concept and simply made it 3D. Ocarina of Time looked and felt and played like any old Zelda title, and that was the utter beauty of it. The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time was timeless, and will remain so forever.

Wario Ware

Wario Ware

Wario Ware, in all of its incarnations, has remained one of the best games that you can just pick up and play if you're looking for a good time. Completely simple in design yet so effective, who knew that Wario could be this good? Wario Ware would present you with a series of 10 second mini-games that you would have to figure out and complete in the time allotted. Nothing is more hysterical than staring at a screen with a few random objects on it and then losing because you had no idea what was going on. Wario Ware amounts to loads of fun and will continue to do so for a long time coming

Wario's Woods

Wario's Woods

Wario's Woods is an action/puzzle game that takes every cliche in the puzzle world and smacks you in the face with it. Rather than twisting falling blocks or swapping colored stones you control Toad who must manually lift and stack monsters with like-colored bombs to get rid of them. Unfortunately Wario comes along and makes life much harder. Throw in an extremely addictive and robust system of combos, challenging computer opponents, and a good helping of multiplayer fun and you have a winner. This is one game I'll never get tired of. Hopefully aliens will attack one day and challenge me to a game of Wario's Woods. I'll beat them and save mankind, thus justifying my extreme addiction. (bard)

Worms Armageddon

Worms Armageddon

Worms Armageddon is a unique little strategy game featuring a cast of cute little cartoon worms that talk in funny accents as they hurl livestock and elderly people at each other. Do you really need to hear anymore? Well, ok. Worms Armageddon pits teams of worms against each other in all out combat, where the last worm standing wins. You'll use a plethora of weapons, fictitious and real, to pound your enemy into the pavement, or just explode the pavement underneath him. Featuring fully destructible environments and a variety of gameplay modes, Worms Armageddon is one for the ages. In fact, try all the games in the Worms series! (DylanDuarte)
