Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2

Command And Conquer: Red Alert 2

Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 is a real-time strategy game developed by Westwood Studios back in 2000, and it should be forever hailed as the absolute pinnacle of RTS gaming. War is waging between the Allies and the Axis and it's time for you to choose a side. Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 was incredibly deep yet beautifully simple. Complete with terribly-acted live-action cut scenes, Red Alert 2 was an absolute gem of a game and today it shines as bright as it ever did. As a matter of fact, it was just released by Electronic Arts in a Command and Conquer compilation pack called "Command and Conquer: The First Decade" in stores everywhere, so you have no excuse not to go out and pick it up! Dr. Mario

Dr. Mario - Nintendo

Dr. Mario was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System and Gameboy in 1990. Despite not having an actual medical license, he used his know-how to eliminate nasty looking viruses. By rotating the pills and aligning the colors, you would clear a row of viruses. Clear all of the viruses and beat a level. Dr. Mario was just as fun, if not more fun, than Tetris. And on top of that, it featured everyone's favorite plumber, masquerading as a doctor! Get him 50CCs of mushrooms, stat! Better yet, call the police! Mario shouldn't be operating on anyone!

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is Rockstar's fifth foray into the Grand Theft Auto universe, if you don't count expansions. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is bigger and badder than ever, which enough content to last you until the apocalypse. Even if you do manage to beat it, getting to 100% is an entirely different matter. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is always fun to just pick up and play, whether you like cruising down highways, flying over rooftops, or boating down the river. Me, why I prefer the bicycle. Gas prices are outrageous.

Halo

Halo - Microsoft

Halo: Combat Evolved is Microsoft's first person shooter baby as well as their flagship series. You play the role of the illustrious Master Chief, the head of an army of bad-ass galactic marines. You fight against the Covenant, an alien race in an all-out war with the humans. Aside from being one of the best first-person shooters of our generation, Halo also includes vehicles that control fantastically as well as an extremely fun multi-player mode. Get a couple friends together for some hot split-screen action or jump on Xbox live and harass some young newbie.

Halo 2

Halo - Microsoft

Halo 2 is Microsoft's fantastic follow-up the original earth-shattering shooter. Halo 2 is bigger, better, and prettier than the original, which was damn near impossible. Halo 2 contains all the fun of the original, with new weapons and vehicles and of course a whole new storyline. You'll get access to the plasma sword, a weapon used exclusively by the covenant in the first Halo. You'll also get to drive vehicles like the Scorpion, an unstoppable juggernaut of a tank. This time around, you also get to dual wield weapons, which is a feature every gamer can love.

Master of Orion II

 Master of Orion II

Master of Orion II is one of the original sci-fi, galaxy conquering, civilization building games. You choose between 13 different races (or create a custom one) and attempt to take control over the galaxy either by diplomacy or by defeating all other races. Like other sim building games, you have access to different technologies based on the race you chose. Some races are more aggressive, some are adaptable to harsh climates etc. You will also encounter other races that may want to form an alliance with you, (or kill you). Another thing is that you have to make sure that not only your planet thrives, but it is well protected. Others races may try and invade, and if you are not prepared, you may lose the planet. What's cool about this game is that you can actually see the progress of your efforts. As each planet develops, you can see it change before your eyes. I also liked the big selection of technology that you could research for your worlds. To keep track of it all, I actually got to a point where had to create a chart on a white board to make sure I knew how to get the technologies I needed!! There has been a third edition to this series a couple years ago, but it just doesn't compare to this one. This game rocks!! (CA-gamer)

Pharaoh

Pharaoh is an Egyptian city-building simulation game. Play different scenarios and campaigns and see how your cities culture and prosperity thrive, or fail. Build massive temples, pyramids and monuments, like the Sphinx. Make sure people are happy, or risk having them leave, causing massive unemployment. Pay homage to the gods, or suffer their wrath by destruction of your crops, buildings and other valuable items. This is a game I never get sick of since there are so many different ways to play it. As your culture and population grow, it becomes very difficult to keep a balance. Sometimes there are plagues, wars and other distractions to keep you from your goals. This game is timeless. Even though there are other city-building games with more sophisticated graphics, there's just something about the appeal of ancient Egypt that just draws you in. (CA-gamer)
