The Suffering Video Game:Ties That Bind

About the Game

Consistent with the original The Suffering game, this action/ shooter title takes you on a violent journey filled with violent, horrific creatures. You will use the multiple weapons you find, combined with your wits to solve the mystery of Torque’s past. The game begins after his escape, after arriving in Baltimore. Experience Torque’s past through flashbacks and see the tragedy of what happened to him before he was originally sent to the island penitentiary.

The journey to discover the truth about Torque’s past will not be easy, as you explore the city filled with vicious creatures, dangerous slums, and ghostly visions. Use the maps you find to help you navigate through prisons and other crime-filled locations. Each area will have its own challenges, testing your wits and putting your character closer to the brink of insanity.

Gameplay is similar to the original title, with simple single button pushes for violent combat attacks and actions. However, movement is smoother and more fluid. Also consistent with the first Suffering game, you have the "Insanity" mode, where you can temporarily change into a creature with some powerful attacks.

New Suffering Features

A couple cool new features of the game include:

  • Weapons – larger inventory available, while keeping some of the original favorites like the Tommy Gun, Scorpion and Flashbag grenade.
  • 2 Game Endings – your destiny will be determined by the moral decisions you make. What path will you choose?
  • Menu - The inventory menu and notes screen has been modified a bit for easier access.
  • Archive – locate the pages to the 3 books: Jordan’s Notebook, Consuela’s Scrapbook and Carmen’s Diary. Putting these pieces together will unlock their secrets after you complete the game.
  • Alternate beginning – if you have a saved file from the original, completed Suffering title, the start of your game will prompt a Good, Evil or Neutral scenario. The choices you made in the original game will now affect how other people and creatures react to you during play of the Suffering Video Game, Ties that Bind edition.

Graphics and Sound Effects

The creepy horror of The Ties that Bind video game is best experienced in the dark. Improved graphics make every encounter seem even more unsettling. Unlike the original game, creatures, people and the background detail no longer appear to be flat but have more of a 3D look that is ominous and scary.

Sound quality is excellent. Make sure to adjust the settings to experience the full impact of the voices, creature noises, music and background noises that make this game a horror fans dream. If played with the volume high enough (and in the dark), it may be enough to freak you out a bit.
