The Sims Cheat Codes
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
There are a lot of cheat codes out there for The Sims; however, only a few of them are actually useful for gameplay. This article will cover what is useful as well as provide you with some fun extras and helpful hints for the original game.
The Codes
Control + Shift + C
Pressing these keys in order will open the cheat code field in the upper left-hand corner of the game screen. Once you've entered a cheat code press enter to exit the field.
Note: When entering these cheat codes enter them exactly as I have typed them for you. Capitalization and spacing matter.
Rosebud - This cheat gives your Sim 1000 Simoleons, but this isn't the best way to utilize this cheat unless you just need a little extra cash. The best way to utilize this cheat is to add a series of semi-colons and exclamation points after the word like this:
Rosebud;!;!;! - Each semi-colon/exclamation point combo will give you an addition 1000 Simoleons so add as many as you would like. Copy and paste the semi-colons and exclamation points if you don't want to type them all.
move_objects on - This cheat allows you to move anything on your lot. And I mean anything. One word of advice, though: DO NOT DELETE YOUR MAILBOX. If you delete your mailbox your Sim doesn't have an address meaning they can't go to work, can't go to any of the expansion lots and won't be able to invite friends over. Also, if you happen to pick up the hidden "Plumb-Bob" item on your lot just put it right back where you found it.
Note: You can enter "move_objects off" if you want to re-establish boundaries within a lot.
prepare_lot - This code will replace lost items on your lot. This helpful if you accidentally delete your mailbox.
Filling Sim Needs (The Easy Way)
To instantly fill your Sim's needs (most of them anyway) follow these instructions.
1. Enter the "move_objects on" code. (You only have to do this once unless you turn the function off).
2. Save the game.
3. Enter "Buy" mode and select the Sim who's needs you wish to fill.
4. Delete the Sim. Trust me.
5. Return to "Live" mode and click on the Sim's icon, which should now feature a red "X" inside of a red circle.
Your Sim will magically return to the game screen with all, but their "Fun" and "Bathroom" bars completely full.
A much easier way, albiet more expensive way to fill needs is to download and use a "Mood Booster". AroundTheSims.Com is a great site for Sims downloads. It's free (although they accept donations) and AroundTheSims.Com has everything Sim-related you can think of available for download. The site is easy to navigate and is very well organized.
To find a mood booster for your Sims go to the "Objects" catagory then find the "Food & Drink" button on the left menu and click it. Mood boosters will be at the bottom and in the middle of the next screen. Each "Mega-Boost" will cost your Sims 250 Simoleons (and will fill all of your needs bars) and the item itself will not be cheap, but you know the money code so what are you worried about?
As an added bonus, once installed into your game, you can buy a mood booster for any lot in the game, even lots in Old Town, Downtown, on Vacation Island, and Magic Town, etc. Just think of the possibilities and I don't have to tell you how useful this can be.
Note: If you have any trouble installing and using items you download from AroundTheSims.Com refer to the site for help.
A Visit from Santa Claus
1. Build a fireplace into your Sim's home.
2. Buy a Christmas Tree and a plate of cookies and place them in the same room as the fireplace. (Anyone with the Livin' Large Expansion pack should have both of these items).
3. Be sure everyone, including pets, are in bed and asleep before 10 p.m.
If you do everything correctly at around midnight Santa Claus will be transported into your Sim's home and will leave some gifts. Usually it's a chess table or a telescope with a few other non-item gifts, but it is a fun trick and your Sims will enjoy opening the presents.
Be The Most Popular Witch In Town
These next few hints will only help those of you with the "Makin' Magic" expansion pack. If you do not own this expansion pack - you should.
Obtaining Magical Items & Ingredients
There are the traditional ways of getting magical items and Ingredients; make them, buy them, barter for them or talk to the vendors in Magic Town and perform tasks to get them. Then there are the non-traditional methods.
1. Buy a toadstool and sit on it. This will make toadstools appear on your Sim's lot.
2. Find a beanstalk and climb it. There are beanstalks on some of the lots in Magic Town (you can build them into lots as well). The reward for your efforts is 3 Magic Beans.
3. Raise a dragon and play with it. Tickling and grooming a dragon will sometimes produce Dragon Tears and Dragon Scales. (Dragons like to set stuff on fire so be sure your Sim's home has a fire alarm).
4. Have kids play with fairies. Sim kids can get Pixie Dust by playing with the "Visions of Sugarplums" toy box. Kids can also play with dragons.
Bonus Hint for Earning "Magi Coins": Raise your Sim's "Logic" skills to their fullest extent and go to a lot in Magic Town with "Electro's Spooky Laboratory" (or build one into a lot). It has a coffin on it and is built out of castle bricks. Click on the stage to perform a trick, any trick, and while you are performing it, click on the stage again to perform another trick. Once your Sim has completed the first trick and is in the process of performing the second click on the stage again and perform yet another trick. Do this over and over again until your Sim's mood is almost depleted. You'll get loads of "Magi Coins" and if you have a "Mood Booster" on the lot your Sim can stay there for days performing tricks.
Wave That Wand
Once you have spells charged to your wand and you've tempered some charms you should start using them. Using 15 spells and charms at home (10 if you live in Magic Town) every 6 hours will produce at random:
1. Beanstalks - See above.
2. Roots - You can't do anything with these at all.
3. Solar-Powered Geraniums - Pretty flowers that your Sims could use as end tables if they would only put stuff on them.
4. Ability Crystals - The most useful magical byproduct of them all. Each color will grant your Sims a point in a different skill. Once one of each color has appeared the cycle will repeat itself.
Beware using spells on other Sims with wands because they will sometimes backfire. It is also better to cast spells and use charms when your Sim is in a good mood and in some cases, when they are not able to be seen by anyone else. Try to do spells on other Sims when their backs are turned or from other rooms or otherwise blocked off areas on lots.
Spells Your Sim Should Know
Some spells are better than others and the following will be of the most use to you. I've also listed the three ingredients for each spell.
1. Smiley Face - Honey-Garlic-Toad Sweat - Become instant friends with another Sim, but do not use it more than once on the same Sim.
2. Relationship Boost - Honey-Honey-Pixie Dust - Raises your daily relationship points with another Sim by 25 points.
3. Get Happy - Honey-Grapes-Pixie Dust - Raises the castee's mood. A useful spell to bring along on Sim dates.
The more skill points you have the more spells you can cast each time you charge your wand so to get the most out of being a witch or warlock - raise those skills, make some friends then get to work. You could be a Superstar Sim Celebrity in no time!
Note: Casting too many spells on public lots will bring about the "Mystery Man" (the guy who delivers the magical boxes when your Sims move in) and he will fine you for excessive spell-casting. This is not a big deal. Just pay the fine go back to what you were doing.
The Sims Cheats, Hints & Tips Summary
These are the best ways to advance your Sims in the game and some of them cannot technically be classified as cheating so much as taking advantage of your resources. I haven't shown you all of the secrets of the Sim universe; find them out for yourself, you must, but I've given you all of the information you need to easily make your own discoveries.
If you do not have all of the expansion packs the new "Sims Complete Collection" is available for purchase now through The Sims Website.

-- Contributed by: kool kidThis is very good stuff to know! I know a trick with the Mystery Man coming over when you cast too many spells. Don't pay the fine, just delete the face in the corner over and over and over again! You can just go away from him in a taxi as well!
