The Sims 2

From LoveToKnow VideoGames

Way back in 2000, Will Wright created a little game called The Sims. Little did he know the enormous impact it would have on the gaming community. The Sims franchise has been hailed as the best-selling video game series in history. That's certainly something worth bragging about.

Now, in October of 2005, the sequel to the blockbuster PC hit is making its way to the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation Portable (PSP), and even your cell phone. No more excuses to not play the game, now you can take it everywhere you go!

The Sims History

The Sims 2 was originally released on the PC in 2004. Several expansions and ports were created for the original, but this was the first true sequel. This genre-defying game enjoyed enormous success and introduced a fully 3D world for the Sims to interact in.

The Sims series of games is well-known for a few defining points. Often referred to as "god-games", players are put in control of characters called Sims, defining every aspect of their life and watching the outcomes blossom from their choices. The Sims 2 brought more lifelike responses, better graphics and a feast of new options to the table.

Versions

The console and handheld versions will be remarkably similar to their PC counterpart but with enhanced options for each platform.

Consoles

The Sims 2 for Xbox, the PlayStation 2 console and Nintendo GameCube gives you a completely blank slate and allows you to customize to your heart's content. Create your Sims, control every move they make, set their personalities and more. Build their world by making their food, decorating their homes, even designing their clothes! Help your Sims build a web of friendships (and enemies!) by having a hand in every aspect of their life. PS2 users can even import images from a USB camera directly into the game!

Not into the god-like game experience? The Sims 2 offers both open-ended gameplay and a story-driven experience with 16 unique locations and over 60 new characters.

Handhelds

Game Boy Advance - GBA owners customize and create their Sims' world then take the lead role in the fictional television series "One Time in Strangetown". Unlock and play all the episodes of the show to explore the secrets and stories of the game. Also participate in mini-games inbetween episodes!

Nintendo DS - DS owners have a full-range of open-ended Sims living to explore. Run a hotel, become a real estate mogul, design paintings for a gallery and more! Keep your Sims happy to uncover their secrets.

The Sims 2 Coming Home

The Sims 2 is now available for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube systems, as well as the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS portable systems. Look for the PlayStation Portable version by the end of 2005 as well as a mobile phone port. Your life will never be without the Sims again!
