Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers -- About the Game
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is a fast action-adventure game based on the first and second blockbuster movies, inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels. With flashbacks and narration, the story of the tragedy of Middle Earth by the rings of power begins. Your adventure starts as you are placed in the middle of a battle scene where the evil Sauron is attempting to destroy Middle Earth with the Ring of Power. Experience the adventures and challenges as Frodo, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Gandalf. Explore the Mines of Moria, use powerful combat skills and magic, and battle various creatures like Ringwraiths, Goblins, Cave Trolls, and Orcs. Protect Middle Earth from the evil power of Sauron, and help Frodo in his quest to destroy the Ring of Power.
Difficulty
The game is not difficult to learn. It can be played in three different difficulty levels: Easy, Normal and Expert. Levels are gained as quests are completed, then new combat combos and abilities are available. These upgrades are available for purchase with points earned from combat performance. Naturally, the better you are at defeating your enemies using combat and skill, the more points you will receive. (Performance rating with points is shown to you at the end of each completed quest)
Fun Factor/Replayability
This is a fun game, though some gamers may zip through most of the levels in The Two Towers easily. For these gamers, the Expert level would probably be more to your speed. I enjoyed Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I like that you can play the different characters on most of the quests. Each character’s skills and abilities vary, making it a more interesting challenge. However, basic combat moves seem to be standard with most of the characters.
Graphics
The graphics in this game are pretty good. It is a little cartoon-like, and the dialog doesn’t always go along with the characters. Visually, it is still enjoyable to look at.
Audio
The sound effects and the voices heard in the game are based on dialog from the movie(s). I think this enhances the game, and makes you feel like you are more involved in their world.
Movie Sequences
There are many movie sequences throughout the game. It is great when you first start a quest, but if you keep failing, it can get a little tiring. When initially loading a game, they are impossible to bypass. When you are continuing a game (like if you died during a quest) some of the sequences can be bypassed or cut shorter.
Instruction Manual
The instruction manual is useful. It tells you about the basic combat moves, how to adjust settings, and gives you a little background on the story. However, advanced moves and abilities are not shown.
Summary
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is a fun, action-adventure game based on the blockbuster movies and J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels. It is an easy to learn game where you can play as Frodo, Aragorn, Gimli, Gandalf and Legolas. Experience the adventure, save Middle Earth and protect Frodo in his quest to destroy the Ring of Power.
