Tekken Coming To PSP
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
Tekken on the PSP
Outside of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, Tekken is perhaps one of the most recognizable fighting game franchises out there. Sure, there may already be the far from incredible Tekken Advance for the Game Boy Advance, but gamers have yet to have a real option for taking Heihachi and crew on the road... that is, until now.
The News
Weekly Famitsu is reporting that a Tekken game is in the works for the Sony PSP, though no more details have been revealed. Namco is keeping pretty hush-hush about it, so expect some announcement to be made at E3 later on this year.
Details?
Two main possibilities present themselves. This Tekken game could simply be a watered-down port of Tekken 5. This would be in line with many of the other titles found on the PSP. Alternatively, this could be an innovative original title, akin to Metal Gear Acid, possibly released in tandem with the new Tekken game to appear on the Sony PlayStation 3.
Either way, I'm pretty stoked about bring Jin Kazama, Marshall Law, Yoshimitsu, Hwoarang, and Paul Phoenix with me on the daily commute.
UPDATE: February 15, 2006
Some more information has been released about this PSP take on the Tekken series. Apparently it's titled Tekken - Dark Resurrection, and is based on the Tekken 5 - Dark Resurrection currently found in coin-op arcades. There will be over characters making an appearance, and you'll be able to wirelessly challenge your opponents on an ad-hoc basis. They say the game is about 60% done now, so more details should be quickly forthcoming.
