Super Smash Bros. Game

The Super Smash Bros. games are multiplayer brawling games that feature dozens of popular Nintendo characters. Choose from Mario, Luigi, Ness, Yoshi, Princess Peach, Link, Zelda, Bowser and many more, then enter the arena to begin the brawl! Up to four players can play at once, making it the perfect game to play when you're with your friends. Best of all, there are so many great features in this game you won't get bored any time soon.

Each character has a unique regular attack move (button B) and a smash move (button A). Pressing one of these buttons in conjunction with a direction on the analog stick aims the move in that direction. If someone is coming from above, tap Up and B to knock them out of the air.

Your goal in Super Smash Bros. Melee is to avoid being knocked off the playing field. Each hit you take increases your percentage rating at the bottom of the screen. As the percentage rises, the chances of you flying off are greater! Luckily there are tons of interesting power-ups that appear to give you a hand, such as Pokeballs, food to refill your health, baseball bats and much more.

Multiplayer and Single Player

Super Smash Bros. Melee is centered around multiplayer gaming. It's best experienced with a group of good friends. But the Single Player mode is surprisingly robust and features a number of challenges when your friends aren't around. Also use this mode to unlock new characters and arenas for multiplayer battles.

There are dozens of single player missions you can complete, each with a set of rules and goals. One mission has you battling a gigantic Donkey Kong along with a miniature Kong. Another one has you protecting Princess Peach from Bowser. The challenges are tough, interesting and usually quite funny!

Other single player modes include an Adventure Mode where you travel through the Mushroom Kingdom battling various characters until you face off with Bowser at the end. Classic Mode is just like the original Super Smash Bros. game and pits you against opponent after opponent until you reach the final boss, Master Hand.

Trophies and Rules

Even if you've beaten all of the challenges, finished the game with every character and played multiplayer until you're blue in the face, Super Smash Bros. Melee still offers some surprises for you. You can customize lots of game options, such as setting the power-up frequency and type. You can also choose Special Rules Combat and engage in hyper battles, slow-motion fights, use gigantic characters or even miniature fighters!

In addition to these customizations, the game also features over 100 different trophies you can collect. Each trophy is a part of the Nintendo universe and has trivia and a scalable 3D trophy you can oggle over.

Super Smashing Time?

Super Smash Bros. Melee is a great addition to any GameCube library. You'll find enough single player challenges to keep you busy for months and the multiplayer is an entire experience in itself. The game is suitable for all ages, even kids can pick up the easy controls and have a blast running around as Mario and throwing Bob-ombs at Luigi.
