Gameplay

Playing SpongeBob Diner Dash is pretty much the same as the other Diner Dash games available on the market. You seat customers, take their orders, bring them food and drinks, collect their money, and clear the tables. The game was designed to appeal to a younger gamer audience as gameplay seems a bit easier than the other Diner Dash games. As you progress through the game, each new restaurant starts with an easy level, as opposed to the other Diner Dash games where each level just gets more difficult. In the earlier stages, your customers do seem to take a longer time to order, forcing you to sit and wait for a short while. Later in SpongeBob Diner Dash, however, levels do get more challenging, as more tables become available along with more impatient customers that need special attention.

Scoring points is exactly the same as the other games in this series. Keep your customers happy by serving them quickly and not making them wait for too long (or they will leave and you will lose points). You can read your customer satisfaction by looking at the hearts displayed just below them. However, unlike the other titles, the hearts are a bit smaller, so you really have to watch them closely.

There are 50 levels available, each having a set amount of points you must reach before moving on to the next challenge. An "Expert" score of points is also listed which will open up bonuses in the game.

Tip: For a higher score, seat your customers in matching colored seats and bring them drinks if you see the number of hearts drop.

Graphics and Sound

The graphics in this cartoony offering are colorful, simple, and visually appealing. Each section of the game brings a new theme, which adds to the game play. Music and sound effects tie in with the underwater theme, and there is a SpongeBob music track in the background. All characters in the game are very expressive, and you can see the levels of unhappy emotions represented by small clouds that will appear above their heads.

SpongeBob Diner Dash: Worth Playing?

If you enjoyed any of the other Diner Dash type games and like the style of play, this title will not be disappointing. However, it does not offer any new elements aside from SpongeBob SquarePants and the underwater theme. That said, fans of SpongeBob SquarePants will definitely find this a fun game with all its cool looking characters.
