Smackdown vs. Raw Create a Wrestler

From LoveToKnow VideoGames

You could certainly have the full WWE experience playing as Chris Jericho or John Cena, but it can be much more rewarding to try your hand at the Smackdown vs. Raw Create a Wrestler mode instead. This way, you can get past the pre-determined roster of the popular wrestling game to carve out a path of your own.

Suplex Your Way to Success

In addition to the wide range of wrestling cheat codes that are available in a game like this, the actual wrestling action can be very entertaining as well. Feel free to pit the acrobatic Rey Mysterio against the powerhouse known as Batista to see who will rise to the top of the ranks and capture the championship.

Many of the superstars from the WWE universe have become household names, but it can be much more engaging to take your own custom-created brawler and toss him or her into the squared circle instead. That's where this fun game mode comes into play.

Smackdown vs. Raw Create a Wrestler Mode

In every iteration in the popular wrestling games franchise, players have been able to engage in a great Smackdown vs. Raw Create a Wrestler mode. Some analysts and reviewers have noted that the wrestler creation mode is more robust than other similar games, giving you full control over every aspect of your created wrestler.

Just as in the more recent Guitar Hero and Rock Band games where you can make your own unique rocker, the titles in the Smackdown vs. Raw franchise allow you to customize the appearance of your unique wrestling superstar. This starts with basic physique and quickly expands into hairstyles, clothing, accessories and more.

Getting Beyond Mere Looks

Beyond the physical appearance, the Smackdown vs. Raw Create a Wrestler mode allows you to choose your own special superstar move sets, attributes, entrance music, and personal brand. More recent versions also allow for the creation of custom finishing moves.

Create a Finisher

The Create a Finisher tab in the Create a Wrestler mode really lets you make a signature move that has never been seen before. This is a vast improvement over earlier games where created wrestlers were forced to "borrow" finishers from real counterparts like the Undertaker or Randy Orton.

Your Own Season Mode

The "Road to Wrestlemania" mode in the Smackdown vs. Raw video games is great for experiencing the careers of real wrestlers, but the season mode for created wrestlers has not been quite as enjoyable. That is changing with the October 2009 release of WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010.

For this iteration, players will have the opportunity to take their uniquely created superstars through a true story mode, complete with rivalries, relationships, and specialty matches.

As if the enjoyment of the career mode wasn't enough of a reward already, playing through the season mode with a created wrestler can also aid in improving the character's attributes and ratings. Earning these attribute points through the career mode is richly rewarding. Interestingly, it is possible to copy the created wrestler and adjust the appearance of these "clones" to make new custom characters.

Retro or New? Real or Imagined?

Most people do not have the technical skills to make a video game, but options like the Smackdown vs. Raw Create a Wrestler mode give even the most novice of players a glimpse into the creative process. From core appearance to spectacular moves, the mode allows for the creation of truly unique characters.

Alternatively, many players have used the mode to recreate real wrestlers from the past that are not included as part of the game's roster. Yes, Andre the Giant and Jake "The Snake" Roberts can wrestle again!
