What Scribblenauts Cheats Are Available?

Scribblenauts is a game that encourages creativity and exploration, so it would almost sound counter-intuitive if there were cheat codes for this Nintendo DS game that made the game too easy or too straightforward.

As a result, the vast majority of Scribblenauts cheats are about earning new rewards and unlocking new features. There are certainly tips, hints, and tricks that can aid in Malcolm's journey with these unique puzzles, though.

How to Get Gold Stars

As you make your way through this Nintendo DS game, you'll find that newly available stages will be represented with a white exclamation mark. When you complete the stage for the first time, whether it be a puzzle stage or an action stage, you'll earn a silver star.

To get a gold star for any given stage, clear it the first time around to earn the silver star. After that, play the stage again. This will send you into Advance Mode. To clear the Advance Mode for that stage, you must finish the criteria a total of three times. For these three attempts, the same objects cannot be reused.

In this way, you have to come up with three completely unique ways to clear the stage. Any objects that you did spawn the first time around to earn the silver star can be reused in Advance Mode.

A Selection of Special Merits

You may have noticed that when you complete each stage, you may be rewarded with a special merit. These achievements can be earned by using different objects in the action stages and puzzle stages. They do not have any inherent value on their own, but they are still fun to earn and achieve.

There are dozens of different Scribblenauts merits available to be earned. They can be rewarded by using food items, putting out fires, riding an animal like a vehicle, and a variety of other possibilities.

  • All New: Complete using objects never used before
  • Closet: Introduce two or more clothing items
  • Glutton: Feed someone or something three times in a row
  • No Weapons: Don't spawn any weaponry
  • Pyromaniac: Get four or more objects on fire
  • Smuggler: Hide an item in a container of some kind
  • Humanitarian: Write two or more human characters
  • Combo: Use two objects together
  • Magician: Turn something into a toad with a magic wand
  • Reanimator: Resurrect a corpse
  • Entomologist: Write at least two insects
  • Pilot: Create two ore more aircraft
  • Russian Doll: Stow an object in another, then place it inside a third object

Unlock New Sandbox Stages

Even before you embark in Adventure Mode, you can have fun on the title screen with the Sandbox Mode. These "stages" do not have any objectives; they exist to allow for free exploration and experimentation.

In addition to the first sandbox title screen background, 14 others can be unlocked. Use the following items to unlock the other background environments.

  • cat, car, bee, tree, woman, coffin, vibes, coin, chair, zombie, court, rain (water), it, pc

More Tips and Tricks

While there are no magical Scribblenauts cheats to provide you with abilities that you would not otherwise have, there are some useful tips that you can use in both the action stages and puzzle stages. There are even some Easter eggs to enjoy.

  • In many of the stages, you can use "wings" and "grappling hook" in a very useful way. This combination, or variations thereof, can get you out of some difficult situations.
  • Use a pair of handcuffs and connect them to the Starlite and a vending machine that you create. In action stages, you can then place the Starlite inside the vending machine. Move the vending machine next to Maxwell, empty it, and you have the Starlite.
  • Pass Advance Mode by using variations of the items you've already used. By adding an adjective, the game will give you credit for a new item altogether. For instance, "bear" and "black bear" are unique items, even if they serve the same purpose.
  • Access the three secret levels by using a teleporter or a time machine.
