Ridge Racer DS Cheat Codes and Hints
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
If you can stomach any time with Ridge Racer DS at all, then more power to you. If you want the fast track to unlocking items in this game, read below to see what you need to do.
Unlockables
You can unlocks two new songs in Ridge Racer DS:
- Galaga Pac-Jam is unlocked when you unlock the car Pooka, which is unlocked after you race 10 multiplayer games.
- Mushroom Kingdom 2 is unlocked when you unlock the DK Team Racing car, which is unlocked by beating the DK Team Racing car in Car Attack mode AND after winning Grand Prix 6.
- After you race 10 multiplayer races, you’ll unlock the cars 00-Agent-Car (using only one cartridge), Red Shirt Rage, Pooka (see above), Caddy Car, Galaga ’88, Shy Guy, and Mario Racing.
- Unlocking cars is pretty simple. After racing against it in Grand Prix Mode and winning that Grand Prix (you don’t have to beat the car), go to Car Attack mode and beat the car there. Once you do, you’ll unlock the car for good.
Some Things Not To Do
Don’t hit other cars. Because the collision detection is so bad, you’ll most likely be pushed back uncontrollably and lose any ground you have gained.
Don’t try to use the other cars to position yourself to overtake them. They will always win.
Also, keep an eye behind you, if an opponent hits you, or barely even clips you, they are most likely to shoot up ahead of you. I don’t know why this is because it looks like they teleport in front of you. It’s annoying as heck, but it’s part of the game.
Don’t take the same driving lines as the other cars. If you knock one from it’s line and you intend to take the same line, they will merge back onto THEIR line and knock you back.
Try to overtake as many cars in the first lap as you can. If you’re not in 3rd or 4th by the last lap, then you have a slim chance of catching up.
Make sure you know the tracks well and don’t scrape walls. Essentially, keep your speed up. That might seem like common sense, but you’ll forget it while your racing because the other cars are brutal opponents.
