Rainbow Web Online
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
When you sit down to play Rainbow Web online, you will unwittingly notice the hours just fly right by. This title really is that addicting, putting a fairly unique "spin", so to speak, on the age old match-three formula made popular by such games as Bejeweled, Zuma, and Bounce Out. There are many websites out there where you can play Rainbow Web for free. Check them out below!
How To Play Rainbow Web Online
If you've played Bejeweled or Jewel Quest, you'll find yourself in familiar territory with Rainbow Web. Instead of a standard grid, however, you are presented with -- appropriately enough -- a spider web. At each of the intersections is a colored marble, and you can swap adjacent marbles (connected by the spun threads) in order to make sets of three (or more) of the same color. They clear, more beads pulse out from the center and the game continues. Your goal is to collect all of the game pieces that have a letter on them. When they have all been collected, a magical incantation is performed and another portion of the Rainbow Kingdom is freed. You move on to the next level, and start anew. As you progress to later stages, you'll notice a few extra challenges. The web will become larger. There will be more colors, making it more difficult to line up the sets of three. Some strands will be broken, making it impossible to connect and or swap across those divides. This just adds to the challenge (and the fun).
Where You Can Play Rainbow Web Online for Free
Generally speaking, most websites that offer Rainbow Web do not offer it as an online playable game, meaning you will not be able to detangle these mystical nets while at a cyber cafe in Amsterdam. Instead, they will offer this title as a free trial download that you will then need to install on your home computer. Don't worry: there are no costs involved here, but there is a time limit of (typically) 60 minutes of gameplay. After that, you'll either need to uninstall the software from your PC or pony up the $20 or so to purchase the full version. Interestingly, with some (if not all) of these trial versions, there is no need to download anything additional. When you buy it, they will provide you with an unlocking "key" that you simply enter in the appropriate field.
SpinTop Games
SpinTop Games, based out of Vancouver Canada, offers a wide variety of casual games and Rainbow Web is one of their offerings. While there, you may want to check out some of their other titles as well. After all, all of these trial versions are absolutely free to download.
GameHouse
GameHouse is a monstrous website. They have mobile games for your cell phone, free online web games that require no additional downloads, and free trial versions of popular games, addressing a number of genres, including mahjong titles, jigsaw puzzles, word games, casino games, and -- most importantly to our interests here -- puzzle games. Naturally, a great program like Rainbow Web is here as well.
Yahoo! Games
Yahoo! has you covered in the email department, for all your search engine needs, up-to-minute news updates... it only makes sense that they entertain you with games too, and Rainbow Web is one such title. Like all the other sites, there's no free online version here: you'll need to download the free trial instead.
Arcade Town
Arcade Town appears to be one of the very few sites that offer a free web version of this game. The graphics are just as colorful, the music just as whimsical, but it may take a touch longer for the game (and its elements) to load compared to the trial download rendition (which this website also has available). Naturally, the full meal deal -- for $19.95 alone or $14.95 as part of a multi-pack -- offers the greatest enjoyment. There's even an offer to receive a CD in the mail with several game trials.
Big Fish Games
They're a big fish, but online casual video games make up an awfully large pond. Here, you can enjoy the free trial download, purchase the full deluxe version, or if you're not sure if Rainbow Web is for you, there's even a video for you to check out.
AOL Games
AOL has the Windows-only rendition of Rainbow Web. The free trial is here for you to check out, and if it tickles your fancy, you may want to plunk down twenty smackeroos for the deluxe version.
