Play Pokemon Games
For anyone looking to play Pokemon games, the options are nearly as plentiful as the number of Pokemon! Most of these Pokemon games will either be a role playing game or a fighting video game, often encompassing characteristics of both genres. There have also been several innovative titles that have taken the Pokemon universe in a whole new direction.
Want to play Pokemon games? LoveToKnow Video Games has compiled a list of the best available titles.
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
Available on the Nintendo DS, Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl are fundamentally the same game, but with very slight variations in the availability of certain creatures. In this way, they are similar to games like Pokemon Emerald that were released on the Game Boy Advance. Both Diamond and Pearl are very popular RPGs and were released at the same time as the Nintendo DS Headset, an accessory that allows gamers to chat over an Internet connection.
Pokemon Battle Revolution
Always on the cutting edge of innovation, Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Nintendo Wii is the first Wii game to make use of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and the first to interact with the Nintendo DS through a wireless connection. The core gameplay here is to build up the powers of your Pokemon and pit them against one another in a series of coliseums and arenas. Battle on!
Pokemon Ranger
For an RPG with a little more of an action element, look no further than Pokemon Ranger for the Nintendo DS. What's interesting is that this title is compatible with the aforementioned Diamond and Pearl, allowing players to transfer data. Just don't be a big Pokemon cheat about it.
Pokemon Snap
Some parents may be concerned about video game violence, because even in a cartoon universe like that occupied by Pokemon, there are fights, fires, and other attacks. Countering this perspective is Pokemon Snap for the Nintendo 64 (N64). The only thing you shoot here are pictures! The goal is not to kill the creatures, but rather snap some world class photographs of them.
Pokemon Trozei!
Substantially different than most other Pokemon games, Pokemon Trozei! is a puzzle game available on the Nintendo DS. In Europe, it is known as Pokemon Link!, but the gameplay is identical. Trozei! follows in the same puzzling tradition that brought us other Pokemon-themed puzzle games like Pokemon Puzzle League and Pokemon Puzzle Challenge. At its core, you can think of the gameplay in Trozei! to be some combination of Tetris and Connect Four. Shift the Pokemon around until you have a matching row of four or more.
Gotta Catch 'Em All
Given the continually rising popularity of the Pokemon empire, we should fully expect that everyone will be want to play Pokemon games for years to come. The developers will continue to produce some world class titles that will continue to do wonders at the cash register. Based on what has happened thus far, we can also expect that all of these great Pokemon games will likely be restricted to Nintendo's two main consoles: the Wii and the DS.
