Nintendo Wii Previews

Red Steel 2

Is this a surprise to you? For most fans of the first Red Steel, this is a surprise. A small leak in 2006 eluded to a possible sequel, but nothing was confirmed until summer of 2008. Ubisoft hasn't released too much information on Red Steel 2 except that it is being released some time in the fourth quarter of 2009 in time for Christmas. The game will also utilize a new Wii accessory, the Wii Motion Plus. The new attachment enhances the Wii Remote to accurately and more quickly detect complex motions. The device will be bundled with the upcoming Wii Sports Resort in Spring 2009.

Nintendo Wii Preview: Wii Sports Resort

Another sequel, Wii Sports Resort promises to give you enough games to play so you don't get board playing the same four over and over again. This sequel of Wii Sports uses the Wii Motion Plus attachment to realistically copy your movement in real time. The beach environment looks fun and inviting... better bring your suntan lotion. Included games that have been announced are Frisbee, Jet Skiing, and Kendo (sword fighting). About 10 games will be in the final version. Wii Sports Resort is slated for a Spring 2009 release.

The Conduit

The Conduit is probably a game you haven't come across yet. Of all the Nintendo Wii previews, this game perhaps best combines great sci-fi with quick action. In the near future, strange alien attacks in Washington D.C. prompt a group called Trust to send in rookie agent Michael Ford to investigate. The first-person game will contain offline and online multiplayer action and will allow the use of Wii Speak to talk to others. The Conduit is scheduled to release in June 2009.

Monster Hunter 3

For those looking for a Pokemon-like fix, prepare for the Summer 2009 release of Monster Hunter 3. This game was suppose to be on the PS3, but the developer couldn't afford the costs of developing it for the PS3. So, it's coming to the Wii, but it won't lose too much of the graphics quality in case you're worried. Different to this third installment is the use of underwater levels and atmospheres, as well as Monster Hunter Theater, which records your battles and allows you to play them back at a later date from a server that can be accessed with through an Internet connection.

Cursed Mountain

Are you missing survival horror on the Wii? What about a survival horror game that involves mountain climbing? Cursed Mountain is especially for you. You play a mountain climber who must climb the Himalayas to seek out his lost brother. The only problem is that he meets dead souls and other people who try to hinder his way. This game has a release date of June 30, 2009.

Overlord: Dark Legend

This fantasy game will play just like the other Overlord games. That doesn't mean that you should ignore this, though, as it is one of the most fascinating Nintendo Wii previews. Using both the Nunchuk and Wii Remote, you'll be able to control your Overlord with one and your "minions" with the other. Progressing through the game still requires you to complete tasks and quests while making your minions wreak havoc as you do so. All your basic fantasy characters are here: elves, dwarfs, and orcs. You'll also encounter fairy-tale characters like Little Red Riding Hood. The game will be released Summer/Fall 2009.

Klonoa: Door to Phantomile

If the title of this game sounds familiar, it is. Klonoa was originally released in 1998 on the PSOne console. Yes, that's over 10 years ago. The creator expressed an interest in reviving the series and found a home on the Wii. Klonoa is looking a little different these days, with smaller, perkier ears, but other than that, everything else is a complete remake. You control Klonoa through five different worlds, defeating enemies and bosses with your Wind Bullet, which allows you to lift enemies above your head to do with as you choose (throw, toss away, etc.). While a platformer, this game features an environment that is rendered in 2.5D, which means that levels can twist and spin in order to adjust to Klonoa's movements.

Many More

Most of the above Nintendo Wii Previews are coming out in 2009. Many more titles have been announced, but have very little information about them at this time. A quick and periodic Google search on titles you are interested in reveals other titles when they are ready.
