Nintendo Wii Fit Replacement Game
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
After having so much fun with the yoga and strength exercises, many people started asking if there was a Nintendo Wii Fit replacement game in the works. Just as Wii Sports eventually paved the way for Wii Sports Resort, it seemed that the original Nintendo exercise game would provide perfect fodder for a sequel.
Can I Buy the Game By Itself?
When it was originally launched back in 2008, it was difficult to find Wii Fit in stock in stores because it was so popular. Just as the motion-sensing controls of the Wii were very revolutionary at the time, the introduction of the Wii Balance Board opened up a whole world of opportunities for gaming.
Since the Balance Board is required in order to play Wii Fit, the game was only made available as part of a bundle with the new video game accessory. The suggested retail price was $100. This seemed like a fair proposition for gamers, considering that other games without accessories were easily selling in the $50 to $60 range on the Wii.
At the time this article was written, it was still not possible to buy Wii Fit on its own without the Balance Board. The way around this conundrum, in case you need a Nintendo Wii Fit replacement game, is to buy used video games through retail stores and online auctions. Some people are willing to sell the game without the accessory for a reduced price.
What is the Nintendo Wii Fit Replacement Game?
Perhaps a more suitable alternative for the Nintendo Wii Fit replacement game is to take advantage of its highly anticipated sequel. Dubbed Wii Fit Plus, this is an update to the original game and it was released in October 2009.
If you are interested in buying this fitness game, it may be a better proposition to buy the updated version instead. Alternatively, you can buy the original bundle and then buy Wii Fit Plus on its own.
Two Bundles for Wii Fit Plus
Unlike the first Wii Fit, Nintendo is offering two different bundles for Wii Fit Plus at launch.
The first bundle is very similar to original, selling Wii Fit Plus alongside a new Wii Balance Board for about $110. This is slightly more expensive than the original bundle, but you are getting a newer game.
The second bundle is not a bundle at all. Wii Fit Plus can be purchased as standalone software for about $25. This second offering suits people who have already purchased the first Wii Fit and only want to gain access to the new game without buying a new Balance Board.
Wii Fit Plus is being marketed as an "enhanced" version of Wii Fit, giving gamers access to fifteen new balance games, six new strength exercises and yoga activities, and an updated user interface. There is also a new calorie burning counter, the ability to create custom routines, and the ability to create pet profiles.
More Titles Using the Wii Balance Board
Going beyond the two core options for buying a Nintendo Wii Fit replacement game, it is possible to sift through the extensive library of games for the Nintendo Wii to expand your fitness and exercise routine.
In addition to Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus, there are a number of different games for the Wii Balance Board that can be just as enjoyable as the original. Some are catering to the exercise market, whereas others are meant for simulating action sports like skateboarding and snowboarding.
Whatever your choice, the Wii Balance Board can be a great addition to your collection of Nintendo accessories, since it really can make for a novel and immersive gaming experience. Get fit with Wii Fit and have a great time doing it too.
