What Are the New Indiana Jones Video Games?

As you walk into your favorite electronics or department store, you may start looking for any new Indiana Jones video games. Typically, video games of this nature coincide with the release of an associated movie. This hasn't really been the case with everyone's favorite archeologist, however.

Even though we may have watched The Crystal Skull in theatres a short while ago, there is no video game that tied into that film. That's not to say that there aren't any Indy games for you to enjoy, however. They just take on a slightly different spin.

Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures

Many of us grew up playing with Legos, constructing our own little worlds out of those versatile building blocks. Entering the world of fantasy, we were taken to faraway worlds, visiting everywhere from outer space to Medieval Europe.

This same level of creativity and enjoyment were revealed with Lego Star Wars and it was also made available to fans of the cracking whip with Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures. Among the new Indiana Jones video games, this is surprisingly one of the most accurate recreations of the famous fiction.

Lego Indiana Jones is available on just about every current gaming console. You can find it on the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, PC, Mac, and PlayStation 2. While you may not get lifelike graphics, the Lego characters can be a lot of fun!

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings

For a more realistic approach to the franchise, it may be a better choice to try Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings. This title allows you to interact with a highly detailed environment, using both your tools and your wits to defeat enemies and explore exotic locations.

The overall graphics style in this new Indiana Jones video game is similar to what you would find in a Tomb Raider game, especially given the respective environments where you may find yourself. Transverse challenging terrain and escape from danger in this epic adventure game. There is even a cooperative mode to enjoy with a friend.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings launches on June 9, 2009 on the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, and Sony PlayStation 2.

Revisiting the Classics

In your search for new Indiana Jones video games, you may find that the current selection is a little lacking. However, if you go through the history of video games, you'll find that there are a few Indiana Jones-themed gems in there that will thrill any whip-touting adventurer.

The Infernal Machine

Originally released on the Nintendo 64, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine is a fun adventure video game filled with tons of action and exotic locations. Make use of everything from grenades to pistols to destroy your enemies and recover the missing parts to a machine that can open a door to a parallel universe.

The Emperor's Tomb

Featuring the apparent likeness of Harrison Ford on the cover, Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb takes you to 1935 when Indy must race against Asian crime syndicates and the Nazis to find the legendary Heart of the Dragon. Dive under the seas of Istanbul and challenge the back alleys of Hong Kong. The Emperor's Tomb was released on the original Xbox, PS2, Mac, and PC.

The Temple of Doom

Go back to the days when Indiana Jones first rose to his current celebrity status, finding this original game from the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). As expected, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom mirrors the action from the movie of the same name. It's not one of the new Indiana Jones video games and it's not one of the best either, but this title can be great for nostalgia's sake.
