Mii Channel
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
The Mii Channel is an option on the Nintendo Wii that lets you create a representation of yourself in video game form. The channel offers more than just Mii creation; you also mingle with other Miis and set up Mii Parades to showcase the Miis on your system.
What Exactly is a Mii?
A Mii is a character that you generate based on features that you have. Choose from different hairstyles and colors, facial features and structures to create a cartoon-like character that is your avatar in games and your profile on the Wii. With so many choices for eyes, noses and mouth shapes, as well as positions of other facial features, you are sure to make a Mii that is a close likeness to you. Some games where you'll find Miis are:
- Wii Sports
- Wii Play
- Wii Sports Resort
Understand the Mii Channel
The Mii Channel is the central area where your Miis "reside." This area is called The Plaza. When you first boot up a Nintendo Wii, you see a black Plaza with empty cobblestones. As you, your friends and family create Miis, this Plaza will fill up and they will walk around looking into the air and waving to you at times.
Once Miis congregate in the Plaza, you have other options for them:
- Edit a Mii. After you create a Mii, you are able to edit the name, clothes color and facial construction so you won't get bored with the same Mii for a prolonged time. Most people change the color of the clothes.
- Create a New Mii. The Wii can hold about 10,000 Miis, whether you create them from scratch or upload them from other Wiis or Wii Remotes.
- Erase a Mii. This option is self-explanatory.
- Go to Mii Parade. The Mii Parade allows you and your friends to share each others' Miis on the respective consoles. When you send a Mii to a Parade, all the Miis on that console will appear and have the ability to be inserted into games. To have Miis in the Parade, you previously had to save the Mii to a Wii Remote and physically transported it to your friend's house. Another way is to use the WiiConnect 24 to send Miis to each other if your Wii codes are registered on each console.
- Store Mii in a Wii Remote. If you have a profile that you'd like to take to a friend's house, then you can store the Mii in your Wii Remote. The remotes will hold up to 10 characters. The reason you may want to store the Mii is for high scores, achievements or your likeness.
- Arrange Miis'. You can arrange the Miis in the Plaza by different categories. Whichever one you choose will force those Miis to stand and walk front and center most of the time. You can select to arrange Miis:
- Alphabetically
- Favorite Color
- Gender
- Favorite Status
If you've lost track to the number of Miis in your Plaza, then look in the bottom right to see the number of Miis roaming your Wii. Clicking on the whistle in the upper right causes the Miis to run around crazily.
Tips
Here are some helpful tips to operate within the Mii Channel's plaza:
- Instead of selecting the option, then clicking on the Mii, you can hover the hand over the Mii and hit the A and B buttons to pick it up. Keeping holding the buttons down as you drag the Mii over to the option you want and let go of the buttons.
- To scroll the screen, press and hold the B button and move the cursor.
- Hit the A button to select a Mii. The name and status will appear.
- If you drag a Mii to the erase choice, you cannot get that Mii back.
Character
Miis are fun to watch, whether the Mii is in a game or Parading through the Plaza. The Mii Channel is a good place to spend some time if you want to start fresh with a set of new scores or you want to create something fun.
