Mii Celebrities
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
While you could certainly use the Mii tool on the Nintendo Wii to make a virtual version of yourself, it can be a lot of fun to create a wide range of Mii celebrities instead. These unique characters can not only infiltrate the Mii Parade, but they can be used for novelty and humor inside select video games as well.
What is a Mii Character?
Up until recently, gamers have been forced to use pre-designed characters when playing through most of the video games on the market. Some games, like Soul Calibur and Rock Band, include a create-a-character mode. However, these characters are restricted within their respective titles.
When the Nintendo Wii was released in 2006, it ushered in quite the revolution in how people chose to play their video games. This involved not only the increased prevalence of motion controls, but also the advent of Mii creation. These cartoon-like characters can be customized by the player and used in a variety of Nintendo games.
Can You Make Mii Celebrities?
The creation tool on the Nintendo Wii is both very simple and very powerful at the same time. Choosing the Mii Channel from the main menu on the Nintendo Wii, you have the opportunity to create or edit Mii characters. This involves the selection of skin tone, hair style, eye shape, and other facial features.
While you won't be able to make a photo-realistic version of their real life counterparts, a little creativity can certainly lend itself to a wide range of Mii celebrities. These can be representative of real people, fictional characters, cartoon characters, and everyone in between.
In the screenshot above, you can see several examples of Mii celebrities, including the following.
Muhammad Ali
To the bottom-left corner of the picture is a depiction of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali. Known as Cassius Clay earlier in his career, this pugilist will forever be known for what he was able to achieve in the ring, as well as in the political arena.
To make a Mii version of Muhammad Ali, choose a darker skin tone, the flat-top style haircut in black, thick eyebrows moved lower on the face, and smaller squinty eyes. Adjust as you see fit.
Albert Einstein
He may best be remembered for discovering the theory of relativity, but did you know that Albert Einstein knew his way around a go-kart race track too? The renowned physicist can be one of the most amusing Mii creations, since he has that eccentric hairstyle and mustache.
Making a Mii version of Albert Einstein can take a little bit of time, as with the recreation of most real-world equivalents, so be prepared to sit down with that Wii Remote for a while. Look for the longer "moppy" style haircut and make it grey. It's important to find a good mustache and a blocky set of glasses.
Tickle Me Elmo
In the picture above, you can see other Mii celebrities with real-life counterparts. You can see actor Jack Nicholson, comedian Conan O'Brien, and former US President George W. Bush. However, the Mii tool can also be used to make some fantastic cartoon and fictional characters as well.
To the left side of the image is a depiction of Pochacco, a character known from the Sanrio universe. For a more North American feel, you may consider making a version of Sesame Street's Elmo. He's far from human, so you'll want to consider more creative uses of the Mii tool.
For instance, you'll need a bright orange face and the largest eyes available from the selection. A big happy mouth is also a must.
In the case of Pochacco, the dog ears are actually the eyebrows raised and moved outward.
