Maxis Game Cheats

From LoveToKnow VideoGames

Even though these titles appear to focus on simulating reality with nonlinear storylines, there are certainly Maxis game cheats that can get you ahead in these games as well. While exploring the virtual environments created by the Maxis game studio, you may need a little help or direction. These cheat codes could be the answer.

Maxis Game Cheats

Some Hot Maxis Game Cheats

For the mass market, Maxis is far from being a household name. That's because it is a video game developer and most people are more familiar with video game publishers. For example, many people may know that the Guitar Hero games are published by Activision, but the more recent ones are actually developed by Neversoft. Never heard of Neversoft? I don't blame you!

Maxis Software is currently a brand name under the Electronic Arts umbrella. While it may not be immediately obvious that you could be interested in Maxis game cheats, you will immediately recognize some of the game titles associated with this increasingly popular developer.

The Sims Cheats and Secrets

Maxis burst onto the scene in 2000 with the release of the The Sims, a simulation-style video game for the PC. There are a lot of cheat codes for this game.

  • To open the cheat code field, press CTRL + Shift + C
  • "Rosebud" gives your Sim 1000 Simoleons
  • "move_objects on" allws you to move anything on your lot, including your mailbox (don't delete your mailbox)
  • "prepare_lot" replaces lost items on your lot

Did you know that The Sims allows for a visit from Santa Claus? Simply build a fireplace in your Sim's home, buy a Christmas tree and a plate of cookies (placing them in the same room as the fireplace), and be sure that everyone (including pets) are asleep by 10pm. At midnight, Santa will visit your virtual home (and leave gifts).

The Sims 2 Cheat Codes

Just as you did in the first The Sims game, accessing the cheat window in The Sims 2 is done by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + C on your computer keyboard. Some of the more notable The Sims 2 cheat codes include the following:

  • motherlode gives you 50,000 simoleans
  • exit closes the cheat code window
  • vsync on' and vsync off toggles between high game performance and high visual quality
  • StretchSkeleton changes the size of your Sim characters
  • aging off disables aging of your Sims
  • intprop censorgridsize 0 disables censoring

Cheating in Spore

The most recent addition to the Maxis family, also designed by Will Wright, is Spore, a simulation game that goes far beyond the scope of the original Sims video games. With Spore, you follow the evolution of a species from a single-cell organism to an intergalactic explorer. The scope (and the variety of characters) in this game is simply stunning.

Can you cheat in Spore? Absolutely! Not surprisingly, the cheat console is activated in exactly the same fashion as all the Sims game before it. Simply hold CTRL and SHIFT on your keyboard and then hit the C key.

Some of the older Sims cheat codes may or may not work in Spore, but we know that the codes below work in this simulation game.

  • addDNA provides extra DNA to utilize in the mating and creation menu, helping you move through the evolutionary process faster and more efficiently.
  • freeCam unlocks the camera so that it can be freely maneuvered around your virtual environment.
  • moreMoney gives you more money to spend on various commodities and other items.
  • spaceCreate unlocks all the tools that are needed during the space phase of the game.

More Cheats to Come

As Maxis continues to churn out world-class simulation PC games, we can fully expect to get more Maxis game cheats to enjoy as well. Just as we experienced with Spore, there's a good chance that every Maxis game released in the future will still make use of the CTRL+SHIFT+C cheat console for all of its Maxis game cheats.
