General Playing Tips
Hitting a Home Run Make sure you use your ‘charge swing’ and hit the ball with the ‘sweet spot’ of the bat. The Sweet Spot starts at the center of the plate. Make sure you remember the L button, since it resets you to the center position. Then charge up your swing and move your batter so your release meets the ball and sweet spot as close as possible. Buying Power or Nice Bats will help. If Nice or Perfect pops up, chances for a homer are higher.
Strategies for Challenges
- Collect more than 30 gems. Use Birdo in the Chain Chomp mini-game, put the difficulty on easy and run around until you collect 30 gems.
- Become a Captain and win 900 coins. Pick Wario as your captain and get rich quick by winning min-games and/or beating Bowser Jr.’s team.
- In order to win the Shutout and Pitching challenges, make sure the pitcher you start with is the one you end the game with. Otherwise you won’t earn your star.
- If you’re having trouble getting a star, make sure you using a character than can get the star. For instance, Goomba’s 4 challengers are different than Mario’s 10. So just pay attention to what star you want and who you are using.

Not all the players are available from the start. Complete Challenge mode with the designated character to unlock the secret players.

Bowser for Challenge Mode - Beat Challenge Mode on Special with any Character
Mini Game Grand Prix Mode - Clear all the mini games on star difficulty
Toy Stadium for Challenge Mode - Beat each of the Minigames once on any difficulty. Then purchase the Secret Map from the Item Shop for 500 coins. A Warp Pipe will appear to take you to the Toy Stadium Minigame.
Super Star Item - To unlock the final item in the shop, complete the item check list which includes all the special pitches, treasure maps and 1-time use items.
Secret Map - Unlock the secret map by beating every minigame once. The map lets you go through a warp pipe to an island which you can play Toy Field. You can play it 3 times and it is 10 turns.
Coin Derby Mini Game - Finish Challenge Mode once.
