By all accounts, Peter Jackson did a fantastic job recreating the classic science fiction movie featuring a giant gorilla. The special effects in King Kong were second to none and now you can relive the epic battle between Kong and the T-Rex (Tyrannosaurus Rex) on your computer with KingKong Online.

The Flash-based online computer game features a very simple interface -- just three keys -- but the button-mashing keeps the action level at an exhilarating high. Because it is a free video game, however, you shouldn't expect very much in terms of depth or complexity.

The game consists of a single stage -- King Kong vs. T-Rex -- and that's about it. You just the "Z" key on your keyboard to attack, holding it to build up more power. The "X" key corresponds to blocking and the space bar instigates "kill mode", providing you with an opportunity to recreate that jaw-splitting fatality from the Hollywood movie.

You'll be amused in the short term, but there is very little to this online game to keep you coming back for more.

Accompanying the official movie directed by Peter Jackson, a video game was developed by the team at Ubisoft. The result was called Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie. Like the movie starring Adrien Brody and Jack Black, the video game counterpart was also met with a fair amount of critical acclaim. It is available on a number of systems include the Xbox 360, PC, PS2, and GameCube.

What is Kong Kong Online?

With all this talk of overgrown gorillas rampaging through Skull Island and playing as the simian online against an anciently ferocious dinosaur, it can sometimes be confusing to find just the right online sources for information, guidance, and fun.

In searching for information about KingKong online, we also found a site called Kong Kong Online which markets itself as "the jumping race." Unlike the dark and scary world found on Skull Island, the universe of Kong Kong is populated by fun toys, music, and laughter. They promise that it is a place "where the hearts of children are filled with happiness and dreams."

Based on the colorful and whimsical appearance of the site, I'd imagine that Kong Kong Online is largely marketed toward younger kids and is similar in scope to Club Penguin and Playhouse Disney. Keep in mind that Kong Kong is in no way related to Peter Jackson or King Kong.
