Peter Jackson’s King Kong

Peter Jackson’s King Kong is a fast paced, first-person/action shooter game based on the recently re-made version of King Kong. Set in the 1930’s, it is about a movie director named Carl Denham who seeks to make the greatest film ever in order to save his reputation. He has found a map that leads to an uncharted place called Skull Island. Recruiting a scriptwriter, an actress and a couple of sailors, the group goes on a perilous journey to a place where dinosaurs, savage islanders and the 25-foot tall King Kong gorilla roam freely.

King of Fun?

The action in King Kong will keep you on your toes. You spend a lot of time exploring the dangerous jungle of Skull Island, where you will encounter many vicious creatures who will attempt to kill you. You play the game mainly as Jack Driscoll, the scriptwriter who turns into a skilled fighter out of necessity. He has some guns available to him, which you can use to shoot your foes. However, your bullets are not unlimited, often you will have to make use of primitive spears. Once you get the hang of spear throwing it can be an effective weapon on flying and land-based creatures. Fire is also at your disposal in many situations; you will use it to get rid of brush that is blocking your path, or to kill or scare off various different foes.

In other parts of the game, you will be able to play as King Kong. He is a powerful gorilla who can take on a V-Rex. He has a devastating rage mode that can do great amounts of damage. Kong can move quickly through the jungle, jumping across trees, and climbing cliffs. Kong has taken a liking to Ann Darrow, the actress hired by Carl to be his leading lady, and will capture and save her a couple times throughout the game.

Difficulty Levels/Modes of Play

There is only one difficulty level in Peter Jackson’s King Kong game. The controls are simple, with no complicated combos to learn. After game completion, you can go back and play any previously played level to improve your score. The good thing about this is that if points are high enough, you can change the ending of the game. I won’t spoil it for you, but it would be cool to see an alternate ending to this story.

Audio/Video

The music soundtrack is excellent and is taken directly from Peter Jackson's King Kong movie. The voices of the characters are the actual actors from the movie- Carl Denham (Jack Black ), Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts ), Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody ), and Jimmy (Jaime Bell ).

The graphics in King Kong are amazing. The detail of the dense jungles, the ferocious appearances of the dinosaurs and Kong will blow you away. The only gripe I have about the video is that there is no control over the view. You can only zoom in, but you cannot look in other directions. This seems to be common with a few of the new games out there recently.

Peter Jackson’s King Kong game will take you to Skull Island, where King Kong and many vicious dinosaurs, savage islanders and dangerous terrain surround you at every corner. Play this first person game as Jack Driscoll and fight with guns, primitive spears and fire to survive. Play as Kong, swing through the jungle and battle V-Rex, giant snakes and flying beasts.
