Halo 3 Ending

Master Chief is driving while the alien mans the turret. You speed along and Cortana warns you to "gun it". So you do and the Warthog ramps and launches into the hanger and everyone goes tumbling out. Master Chief rushes to a control pad and starts the ship. It begins into space, but it jars loose a tank which knocks Master Chief to the back of the ship. He barely hangs on. He climbs back up into the ship to come face to face with Cortana.

"If we don’t make it—" she says.

Master Chief cuts her off: "We’ll make it."

The alien assumes control of the ship while Master Chief settles in for the ride home…

The scene cuts to a ceremony for the forgotten soldiers that takes place on a barren wasteland. The alien that accompanied Master Chief has returned... with no Master Chief. The General’s narrative as he and his men salute the fallen ones:

"For us, the storm is past; the war is over. But let us not forget those who journeyed into the howling dark and did not return. For their decision required courage beyond measure; sacrifice and an unshakeable conviction and their fight — our fight — was elsewhere. As we start to rebuild, this hillside will remain barren, a memorial to heroes fallen. They ennobled all of us and shall not be forgotten."

The General calls for a gun salute and while he can’t forgive the alien’s race, he gives him thanks for standing by Master Chief until the end.

The alien returns to his own kind and is assured their world is safe since the prophet’s lies can no longer harm them. On the side of the memorial, ‘In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies March 3, 2553’.

The Legendary Halo 3 Ending

If you managed to complete the harrowing Legendary mode, then the following is added after a quick message from Bungie:

Cortana’s voice comes on: "Chief, can you hear me? I thought I’d lost you too."

Master Chief floats in a ship. He maneuvers through some corridors. Apparently when Halo fired, it shook itself to pieces and the portal couldn’t withstand it. Very few made it.

Master Chief finds his way to a control panel and switches Cortana to the ship instead of his helmet. She’s going to drop a beacon so they can be found, but it could be years. Master Chief settles down into a life support tube. His last words: "Wake me. If you need me."

The ship then floats off into space against the backdrop of a planet. As the ships hits the planet’s horizon, a mysterious glow (in effect, a halo) surrounds the planets and then engulfs the ship.

So raise your glasses in a toast, you’ve beaten one of the best games in one of the best trilogies the video game industry has ever had. So does that mean Halo 4? Or perhaps an Alien spin-off? Who thinks it should be called Halo 4: Floodmania?
