Side Mission Unlockables

Complete the following side missions to unlock special weapons and accessories.

• When you complete all the Pony Express Missions, you unlock Silver Spurs, which prods your horse to go faster.

• After beating Hoodoo Brown, you obtain dual peacemakers which should be self explanatory. I mean, dual... come on, that’s cool!

• Looking for an Apache Shirt? Then you’ll get that after finishing all the Hunting missions. Besides looking cool, it lessens damage from guns. I couldn’t tell if it did the same for blade weapons.

• Rifle shooting in Gun is nonchalant and fun. On of the coolest rifles in the game is a .69 Ferguson Rifle you’ll get after beating Hollister.

Hidden Ammo Hoard

When you get to the Badlands you’ll eventually make your way to the Hecht Ranch. Find a herd of roaming buffalo and look for a house. Behind the house is an entrance to a mine. Go in there and veer right when you come to a fork in the road. Somewhere down the path is a mining cart with a barrel of explosives in it. Pick that up (yes, Colton is strong) and carry it back to the rear of the house near the chimney. Take a few steps back and shoot the barrel. It will explode, causing a major hole in the ground. Drop into the hole and load up just about any type of ammunition for all the weapons in the game.

General Horseriding Tips

Your horse mentor early in the game tells you not to spur your horse to much or it will injure him. One good strategy I found is to tap and hold ‘A’ and let up just before his energy runs out, wait 2 or 3 seconds, and them tap and hold again. It seemed to keep the horse sprinting without a split second rest. When I took the teacher’s advice, the horse would whinny and snort in protest after a while (I assume I WAS injuring him), but using the above strategy, I never heard a peep out of him.
