Guitar Hero 5 Song List
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
One of the main draws for any rhythm game is its music collection, so all players will want to know more about the Guitar Hero 5 song list. What did Neversoft, Vicarious Visions, Budcat Creations, Activision, and RedOctane bring to the stage for this latest home-based concert?
The Full Band Experience is Back
Earlier entries in the Guitar Hero franchise only gave gamers the ability to live out their rock star dreams through plastic guitars, but that changed with the arrival of Guitar Hero World Tour in 2008.
With World Tour, the Guitar Hero series of games started to offer the full band experience, just like what players were able to enjoy in the Rock Band series. Not surprisingly, this trend continued with the release of Guitar Hero 5.
Included in the Guitar Hero 5 Song List
While many of the rhythm games in the past forced players to unlock songs by completing the career mode, this is not the case here. The full Guitar Hero 5 song list is available to gamers in Party Play and Quick Play modes right out of the box.
The song list is comprised of 85 tracks from 83 musicians. These are all based on master performances or live performances. The song list is also said to be quite recent, with over half coming from the current decade.
Some of the highlights from the Guitar Hero 5 set list include the following:

- "All Along the Watchtower" - Bob Dylan

Expand with Downloadable Content
If the 85 tracks included in the Guitar Hero 5 song list are not enough to keep you entertained, it is also possible to purchase additional tracks as downloadable content.
For the Xbox 360, these additional songs can be purchased through Xbox Live. Most tracks sell for 160 Microsoft Points, though there are discounts available when you choose to buy track packs or full albums. Occasionally, promotional downloads are offered free of charge.
Generally speaking, the downloadable content (DLC) for Guitar Hero 5 on the Xbox 360 will be mirrored over to the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 and the Wii Shop for the Nintendo Wii. There may be some slight variations between the three platforms, but most tracks will be made available on all three systems. Pricing is also comparable.
Among the DLC offered for Guitar Hero 5 are the following songs:
- "Prodigal Son" - Rolling Stones
- "Dull Life" - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
- "California Queen" - Wolfmother
- "Show Me the Way" - Peter Frampton
- "The Beautiful People" - Marilyn Manson
Import Band Hero, Smash Hits, and World Tour Tracks
To offer a more unified experience for gamers, the developers have also opened up the ability to import tracks from other related games into Guitar Hero 5. This import feature comes at a small fee, roughly equivalent to $0.10 per track.
At the time of release, a total of 35 World Tour songs and 21 Smash Hits were available for import.
For Band Hero, players are offered a better level of compatibility, since 61 of the 65 tracks from Band Hero can be imported. With these three imports, players gain access to a much larger Guitar Hero 5 song list.
