Storyline

The story in God of War is of a Great Spartan named Kratos. During his life, he was a Spartan General with loyalty from all his men. But one day, Kratos and his men went against the Barbarians. Even though they were better trained, the Barbarians numbered in the thousands. But Kratos, at the last second, yelled to the heavens to the God of War Aries. He sacrificed his soul to destroy all of the Barbarians. Aries trained Kratos to be the strongest, cruelest, and most feared mortal. Kratos is given orders from Aries to attack a sacred temple. Kratos goes in alone and kills the people within the temple. After all are dead, he realizes that he has killed his wife and child. Kratos realizes he has been tricked by Aries to kill the last people he cared for. Kratos leaves the God of War and swears vengeance on Aries. Meanwhile, Aries is busy destroying the city of Athens, and though the other gods had the power to stop him, Zeus -- father of all gods -- forbade them to fight one another directly. Hearing of Kratos sworn vengeance, Athena asks for Kratos help stop and kill Aries, the God of War. But how could a mortal defeat a god? It couldn’t be done.

Athena tells Kratos to go to Athens to find his answer. When Kratos arrives he finds the city close to total destruction, and there, in the middle of all the carnage, is Aries towering higher than the tallest buildings, ravaging what is left of the people. Upon entering and fighting his way through Aries’ minions, Kratos finds a girl who tells him of Pandora’s Box. Pandora’s Box gives any mortal the power and strength of the gods. Pandora’s Box is hidden in the desert, hidden in a great temple chained to the back of the last remaining titan -- Kronos. To find Kronos, Kratos must defeat the 3 sirens. Once Kronos is found, Kratos climbs for 3 whole days to finally reach the temple entrance.

Once inside Pandora’s Temple, you must fight and think your way through a good 50-60 chambers to reach Pandora’s Box. Once Kratos claims Pandora’s Box, Aries, not leaving anything to chance, hurls a 20-foot-long log miles and miles away to Pandora’s temple and kills Kratos, then he gets the Harpies to go and retrieve Pandora’s Box. You continue as Kratos fighting his way out of the depths of Hades. When he finally emerges from Hades. The final battle is all that is left. Mortal versus God, who will win?

Features of God of War

Yes, this game has a huge amount of gore, but it’s in a good way, if you can believe that. But Kratos starts out with nothing more that 2 swords called the Blades of Chaos that are chained to his arms. Along the way you find Alters of different gods. At each alter, Kratos gains a different power, listed here in the order that you get them in the game.

  • Poseidon’s Rage: destroys all enemies around you
  • Medusa’s Gaze: turns your enemies to stone
  • Zeus’s Fury: lets you throw lightning bolts like the big guy himself.
  • Blade of Artemis: big powerful sword
  • Army of Hades: send the spirits of Hades to destroy your enemies.

This game also has an awesome combo system making it easy to get a 100+ combo, now with that long of a combo you would think this game would be pretty easy right? No. This game has enemies that have 2 hit kills, rangers (that will pick you off from afar), and 2 main boss battles that will keep you guessing the best possible way to defeat them. Once you have beaten the game, there are many unlockables for the next time you play such as: 5 new costumes with different powers, super hard mode (God Mode), new levels, and new scenes that will keep you entertained for hours.

What I rate it

10 out of 10
