The Story
Inspired by ancient Greek mythology, God of War sends its hero on an epic adventure. Kratos, the former Spartan General, has sold his soul to the God Ares. The other Gods, seeking a man to bring down the insane Ares, set Kratos upon tasks with subterfuge in their hearts.
Kratos must find Pandora's box and use it to kill Ares, but he also lets out a thousand years worth of Olympian secrets. You take Kratos through sea, city, desert and fire environments. Of course, Kratos is less interested in helping the Gods than on wreaking vengeance.
The Gameplay
God of War combines action combat with traditional adventure exploration and problem solving. Kratos' default weapons are the blades of chaos; they are attached to his arms by chains and allow him to whip them around in a variety of moves. As you encounter Gods, they will give Kratos additional weapons; you can also collect magic types and both the weapons and magic can be upgraded by collecting the red orbs throughout the worlds.
The game offers impressive production values and shows the developers' attention to detail. The game provides a normal play mode as well as a more challenging difficult game play setting.
The mythological enemies include Cyclops, gorgons, minotaurs, undead warriors, and winged harpies. The game also sports unique bosses with fast attacks.
