Games for Wii Balance Board
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
There are a few more games for Wii balance board than when it was first released. The game Wii Fit came bundled with the balance board and it offered many exercises and mini-games to improve balance, strength, and your cardiovascular system. There some other games for the Wii balance board, so don't think Nintendo is forgetting about this peripheral.
Wii Fit
This game comes bundled with the balance board and has around 40 exercises and games for you. There are balance games like walking a tightrope, exercise games like the hula-hoop spinning game, and many Yoga positions for you to stretch with and improve your breathing.
Wii Fit keeps track of your routine daily and records your weight and BMI (body mass index) to see how you are doing. While Wii Fit may not be a 100% substitute for actual exercise, the game may get your motivated by getting you off the couch.
We Ski
If you or your family have ever wanted to go skiing, but without actually going on a slope or wearing the equipment or falling down, then We Ski might just be for you. The balance board is used to control the movements on your characters by shifting your weight to go left, right, faster (by leaning forward), and slower (by leaning back). The controller and nunchuk are used to simulate the poles. The game almost makes it seem like you are skiing. The movements are realistic, but more falling could have made it a truer experience.
Wii Music
This game for Wii balance board used the board a tiny amount. Wii Music is a music game that simulates the playing of about 60 instruments. You move the controllers and nunchuks to the music just like you would if you were playing the real instrument. If you are playing the drums, the balance boards acts as the foot pedals for the kick drum and the hi-hat.
Tetris Party
There are two WiiWare games you can download that utilize the balance board. The first is Tetris Party. There are numerous modes you can play, including regular old Tetris. The game 'Wii Balance Board Tetris lets you use the board as a controller. You shift your weight left and right to move the piece left and right, and you shift your weight forward and backward to drop it. To rotate the piece, you squat. The balance board detects a huge increase in weight, which most likely means you are squatting, which is how it knows to rotate the piece. This part of Tetris Party is basically a longer balance game similar to the games found on Wii Fit.
The Incredible Maze
The second WiiWare game is The Incredible Maze. Very similar to the ball balance game on Wii Fit, The Incredible Maze has you moving a ball around a maze to make it fall through the hole goal. You tilt the board with the remote or the balance board to move the ball. There are all kinds of obstacles which will attempt to hinder your way. There is a challenge mode, which has you obtaining gems and an obligatory time attack mode.
Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2000
Jillian Michaels is a fitness expert showcased as one of the team's trainers on The Biggest Loser. Her game has 11 activities that allow you different levels of intensities and times. For example, you could Hill Climb at an easy level for 30 minutes. The biggest difference between this game and Wii Fit is that there is a 2-player mode which lets you compete against a friend to see who lost the most calories.
All Star Cheer Squad
Want to live out the movie Bring It On? Then All-Star Cheer Squad is the game you need. You are a cheerleader trying to make the squad and beat out all the others to become captain. Using the balance board, as well as the controller and nunchuk, you will learn routines, practice and even make your own dance steps as you progress to your ultimate goal of out-cheering all others.
