Free Kids Games Online
While most people think of the internet as nothing more than a haven for pornography and piracy, it can also help in more wholesome ways. For example, it can provide children with free games that are appropriate and actually educational. That is, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Examples
Here is a list of sites on the 'net with free games that kids can enjoy.
Up To Ten
As I’m sure you’ve guessed by now, Up To Ten offers activities for children up to ten years in age. The site advertises 860 kids games, although not all of those are free. That said, there is still a healthy selection of free activities geared towards children. There are non-interactive things such as songs and animated storybooks. They also have E-cards that kids can send to their friends, as well as coloring books. The meat of the site, however, is their actual game section. The games section has four categories: coordination, races, puzzles, and mixed bag. While the racing category only holds four games, the other three categories all contain a large selection.
The Kidz Page
A completely free website loaded with children’s activities, The Kidz Page has games, puzzles, and coloring, as well as non-interactive features such as movies. They also have a lot of printable worksheets, as well as an entire section devoted to education. The main “online games” section has 8 categories alone, each with a handful of games. With an average of 2 to 4 games added daily, The Kidz Page is definitely a loaded site.
Alfy
The games section of Alfy boasts an impressive selection of games. There is also a “kids” section, of which only half is free, but the free half actually offers quite a bit. There’s the Brain Train, which is full of educational activites; the Mall, which links to a store full of kids’ merchandise; music mania, which allows you to play different instruments; Storyville, which features an assortment of interactive stories; Create, which lets your kid unleash his inner artist; Arcade, which simply links back to the games; and the Clubhouse, which holds an assortment of odd little things that couldn’t fit anywhere else.
Download Free Games
The kids section of Download-Free-Games only features 28 games, but they aren’t simple Java games like most sites offer. The Unfortunately, they’re all trial versions, with the full versions costing money.
Yahooligans Games
Ah, good ol’ Yahoo! Games. The internet behemoth also offers a game section exclusively for children, cleverly dubber "Yahooligans". They offer more games than you could shake a fairly large stick at and they’re all completely free.
Wrap-Up
These are just a few of the many websites out with that offer free children’s games. You can also try going to official websites of cartoons or movies that your child likes. A lot of sites offer Flash-based games featuring their licensed characters that are geared towards a younger audience.
