Dragonball Z PS3

From LoveToKnow VideoGames

The Dragonball Z PS3 Burst Limit game thunders onto the next generation system in an update that improves graphics and gameplay. Whether you are a veteran of the Dragonball series or a newcomer, you should readily enjoy this game. It does help to know some of the characters and what they can do and some of the stories, but with a little attentiveness, that shouldn't be a problem.

Dragonball Z PS3 Features

At first, you are only able to play three of the characters, but as you play through the Z-Chronicles modes, you will unlock a lot of the other characters to play, which add up to 21 in total. The Z-Chronicle mode has over 50 battles you must progress through and it does feel lengthy and does get monotonous after a while.

One feature that drives a lot of the action is "Drama Pieces". These little cutscenes occur during a battle that signifies some sort of help for the character they are triggered for. It's possible that the character's health improves or a partner is summoned to get that characters out of trouble. Whatever the reason, the "Drama Pieces" are quick and support the anime atmosphere well. But don't rely on the "Drama Pieces" to drive your victorious battle. You should be in control with Dragonball Z PS3 Burst Limit.

Online Play

After some time fighting the computer opponents in the Dragonball Z PS3 game, you will find out that you can unleash some of the same combos and moves over and over again to win fights. So the next best thing is to play human opponents. The best situation is to play someone face-to-face, sitting right next to you.

If you are having trouble finding a real live opponent and you have a broadband connection, then finding a random player online might be ideal for you. The online component to Dragonball Z PS3 is not too shabby. Every once in while you will find some slowdown, but it's rare, mainly because there are not a lot of graphics that need to be pushed through your connection.

Reviews

Most of the reviews give Burst Limit fair marks. The reviews range from 7-8 out of 10 for most sites, which means that the game is good. Check out some of the reviews below:

  • IGN is concerned that only fans of Dragonball Z will only like this game. If the game is trying to draw new fans to the series, then this might not be the game to do that with.
  • PS3 Extreme thinks the game is good, but a little simple for a fighter. There's no depth and the storylines aren't that engaging in this version of the game.
  • The Break It Down Blog likes the controls and the graphics, but, like most of the reviews, think that gamers may not be drawn into the characters if this is their first game.
  • For a score that is lower than average, check out the review at Gamer 2.0. The game is just average in the fact there is nothing new for fans and its way too simple for fans of fighting games.

Recommendations

If you are a fan (either hardcore or casual) of the Dragonball Z universe, then you will probably enjoy this game. Unfortunately, if you are looking for a good fighter, then you might want to stick with what's out there right now: Virtua Fighter, Tekken, or even a past Dragonball Z game. Soul Calibur IV should be good too.
