Discount Computer Games

From LoveToKnow VideoGames

Computer games can be expensive. Brand new titles range from $30 - $60 dollars depending on the popularity of the game. This can start to really add up if you want to try different titles. So how can a person get around this problem? There are a few ways that clever, resourceful individuals can do to feed their gaming frenzy and not put a hole in their wallets. Finding computer games at a discounted price should not be something out of reach. Let’s take a look at some possible options.

Where to find Discounted Computer Games

Inexpensive computer games are not difficult to find. Many websites and retailers offer computer games at a cheaper price when they have an overstock, or after a game has been out for a while. Online auctions are another option.

So where are some good places to find games? Here are some websites you may want to check out.

Cyber City Software

Arcade games

Cyber City Software Website

  • This website is filled with cheap computer games, ranging from simple arcade games to role-playing, simulations and strategy titles. The games they offer are not always the most recent, but they seem to offer great deals on classic retro games.

Pallets: A Kids’ Surplus Store

Kid Game

Pallet’s Website

  • Catered to grade-school age kids, this website offers a big selection of computer games that are educational and inoffensive to parents. It also offers some great family games like Boggle, Sorry and Battleship.

Amazon

Amazon website

Believe it or not, on Amazon you can get some great deals on computer games. Whenever you do a search on their site, it pulls up a multiple selection of choices. Amazon displays their own price, and offers a link to go to the Amazon Marketplace, where individual people (and other retailers) can list their price for the same item. You can buy new or previously played copies. Amazon also displays a lot of detail about the items they list, and allow people to post opinions on anything they offer

Ebay

Mallet

Ebay

  • The online auction website that became the biggest garage sale on the Internet. You can find some fantastic deals on new and used computer games. Some online retailers use this site to get rid of overstock items. Another thing you can count on is that a lot of people get bored of games quickly, and this is when you can cash in.

A Good Tip: Do a direct search on the title of the game you want MANY times. People will list their auctions under strange categories that have nothing to do with the item they are selling, or have some kind of spelling error.

After you find something you like, look at their current price and be sure to check out their shipping cost (if available) to get a better picture of what you would be willing to spend on it. What I usually do is put what they call a “watch” on particular items of interest if the bid prices are the same. Some say it is better to bid at the last minute. I don’t always agree. If you know what the maximum amount you are willing to spend, just put your maximum bid right away. If you are not around when the auction ends, you’ll miss the opportunity no matter what. There is always a psycho out there that may want to pay a ridiculous price on an item simply because they hate to lose. Let them. When you are looking for games, there will always be someone else listing one (especially if it is a common title).

Bottom Line…Can you find a good deal?

Finding computer games at bargain basement prices requires a little bit of research. Check out the sites I suggested and your local neighborhood. There may be a little unknown computer software store you never went into. A gamer should never have to overpay if they can avoid it.
