What’s New about Diner Dash 2?
The great thing about Diner Dash 2 is that the formula to the game has not been tampered with. Gameplay is essentially the same as the original. You still serve the customers by seating them, taking their orders, bringing them food and drink, collecting their money and clearing the tables. However, there are new characters and items, and game progression has changed a bit to keep things interesting. Read on to see what you are up against in your new game venture.
New Characters
In Diner Dash 2, four new characters have been added to create some new challenges. However, two characters have been removed: The Food Critic and Hot Shots.
The Family
These guys will test your patience a bit. Every family has a baby who will cry unless a high chair is brought to the table. If you let the baby cry too long, other customers will get upset and leave. You also have to keep an eye on the Family table since if the group starts to get impatient, the baby will start crying again. Later, you will also have to worry about picking up spills at their table, which will also cause you problems if not taken care of right away.
Cell Phone Addicts
People on their cell phones can drive other customers crazy due to their constant voice and ringtone chatter. Care must be taken on who you seat them next to, since impatient customers will leave.
The Joggers
Joggers come to your food establishment wearing headphones. They are easier customers to deal with since listening to music distracts them from anything else that could annoy them. Tip: A good place to seat them would be near Cell Phone Addicts since they will be oblivious to their noise.
The Bookworms
These kinds of customers come to your restaurant looking for a quiet place to read and enjoy a nice meal. They are slow customers (like Senior Citizens), but will get really annoyed if there is too much noise.
Upgrading Your Decor
During each level you complete, there will be up to 3 different décor options available to improve your restaurant. An average score will give you 2 décor options. However, if you succeed with an expert score, you will get 3 options.
New Items for Diner Dash 2
Diner activity can get a bit crazy, so to add some interesting elements to the game, a couple of new items have been added.
Benches
Benches are useful when a lot of customers are waiting around for tables. It is also a good place to keep certain customers who may otherwise upset others if they are seated at a table in the wrong place.
The Phone
A phone has been added to the game, which you will encounter after completing a few levels. It is used to call one of four different staff members that can assist you when things have a potential to get out of control.
The staff members available are:
Busboy – Clears up the tables
Hostess- She will keep the customer’s happy while they are waiting for tables
Bartender – Serves drinks constantly
Performer- Entertains customers at their tables
Diner Dash 2- Worth Playing?
If you enjoyed the first Diner Dash, you will be very pleased with this new addition to the series. It is fun to see the changing expressions of the customers as they go from extremely happy to hopping mad! With new characters and items, along with graphics and animations that are pleasing to the eye, gameplay is fun and will keep you hooked for several hours.
