The video games we play were born from the minds of designers, code from programmers, and the pockets of publishers. At each step along the way, something is added to or edited from game. Designing a video game is a lot like perfecting a work of art. Creating an interactive piece of entertainment software isn't an easy, glamorous or even highly-respected. Sometimes the only reward is the video game that rolls out the door in that shiny package.
Amateur Video Game Design
Not all video games come from corporate headquarters across the world. Many of the video games we play are made in offices and bedrooms just like your own, the result of hardworking and devoted individuals whose passion is to make video games. These games are as varied as commercial software and often have more entertainment value than the big business guys can offer.
But these amateur video game designers aren't your average stock of folk. Designing a video game takes patience, persistence, a lot of know-how and a lot of time. Games aren't born overnight.
