Unlockables

Silver Weapons

• When you finish the game on a given difficulty setting, all the weapons will then be silver with unlimited ammo the next time you play Black on that difficulty level or lower. This will not work for BlackOps, however. (unverified)

BlackOps

• So, you think you're tough and this game isn't enough of a challenge for you? Then complete all the stages on the "hard" setting to unlock "Black Ops" difficulty.

M16A2

• Get your hands on this crazy gun by clearing the game on BlackOps. This is an M16 with URGL attachment. (unverified)

MSAW

• To get this gun in place of your side arm, enter any of the following as your profile name (including the dashes). You will then be asked for a "real" profile name. (The first code has been verified; the others have not yet been tested).

Hints

Cursor Color

• As you progress through the game, you will notice that your aiming reticule changes color depending on what you have in your sights. The default is white, but if it changes to one of the following tones, then you know something is up.
  • Blue: destructible secondary objective
  • Black: destroyable environmental element
  • Green: a friendly/ally (quite rare)

Drag A Weapon Through "Fence" Points

• You can only carry two weapons at any given time, but what about when you have a third weapon that you're just not willing to give up completely. At several points in the game, you'll come across a "fence" point where there is no turning back to previous regions. To carry a third weapon with you over these areas, you can make use of the glitch in the game. There is a slight delay when it comes to switching weapons (dropping and picking up), so if you time it just right and run through the fence point fast enough, you can pick up the gun on the ground of area A, for example, but drop your existing weapon in area B. In this sense, you can "drag" a specialty weapon -- like a rocket launcher -- with you into key sections of Black.

Fast Melee

• After you melee once, if you quickly press the reload button, you can immediately melee again. There will be less than a second delay between these attacks, and you can continue this trick as many times as you want.

Bunker Blind Spot

• In the final mission in the last standoff room, there's a door in between the twin bunkers that will not open. On the left of that door is a lamp. If you stand beside the lamp, you should be covered fairly well by the wall the lamp is hanging from. The guards cannot get to you nor may they shoot you; however, you can shoot back at them.

No Blur Reload

• Press the reload button, then quickly press the melee attack button to cancel the reload, then press reload again. This will allow you to stuff some more bullets in your shooter without the obstructive distance blur.

Instant Grenade Explosion

• Enemies usually run away as soon as they see a grenade, so as soon as you toss one, you can shoot it with your gun to make it explode (accuracy isn't even that important).
