Best PlayStation 2 Games
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
Back in good old Y2K, Sony Computer Entertainment, upon hearing that the world had in fact not ended, released the PlayStation 2. The PlayStation 2 went on the become the fastest selling game console in history. So you might want to pick one up yourself, if you haven't already. Here, I will guide you through the best the system has to offer.
Best Playstation 2 Games
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Sure, everyone has heard of it. Heck, everyone's grandparents have heard of it. This doesn't change the fact that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is one of the deepest, longest, and all around best games for the Playstation 2. In case you've been living under a rock for the past two years, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the third next-generation installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. In it, you play as CJ Johnson, a former gangster who's come home to San Andreas following the death of his mother. He hooks up with his brother and his old friends, and sure enough, instantly gets sucked back into the gangster lifestyle that he thought he left behind. The game is a third-person action adventure and so much more. You'll drive planes, trains, and automobiles in a series of missions set all around the vast landscape of San Andreas.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
The latest in the saga that is Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence is not only the best game in the series, it's the special edition version of the best game in the series. That's right. Much like he did with Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, Hideo Kojima has released a sort-of "director's cut" version of Metal Gear Solid 3. It features additions to the normal game, such as a new over-the-shoulder camera angle that makes it a completely different game. Along with the new features implemented in the original adventure, Subsistence offers three discs jam-packed with goodies, the best of which being the inclusion of both Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake: Neither have ever been released stateside. Oh, and as if you aren't salivating enough, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence offers an online multiplayer mode.
God of War
Action games litter the market like no other, but the sad fact is that they rarely deserve a second glance. Kudos to Kratos then, the protagonist of Sony’s action extravaganza God of War. Kratos, formerly a Spartan general, sold his soul to Ares in exchange for power. Kratos swore allegiance to Ares, scouring the land as his faithful servant. The other gods of Olympus, however, don't think as highly of Ares. They fear that he is going mad, and so they have commanded Kratos to find Pandora’s Box and use it to kill his master. And if going one-on-one with the God of War isn’t cool, I don’t know what is. Kratos is the baddest of the bad, slaying foes, getting women, and then slaying more foes. God of War features some of the best and most rewarding gameplay around, as well as top-notch boss battles, excellent visuals and terrific audio. It isn’t so much for fans of the action genre as it is for fans of video games in general.
Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec
The Gran Turismo series has long been hailed as the gaming holy grail of professional racing. When the series made the leap to the PS2 in 2001, that still stood. Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec was released in July of 2001, while everyone was still in love with Gran Turismo 2, but that didn’t stop Gran Turismo 3 from selling like hot cakes. And from what I’ve heard, the hot cake market is quite a doozy. Gran Turismo 3 offered everything its predeccesors did and more. Hardcore racers can play for months and months, stocking up their garages and completing all of the races. Graphically, you couldn’t ask for much more in a racing game. Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec is, without a doubt, the premiere racing simulation available on the market.
