Best Nintendo Wii Games
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
One of Nintendo's promises with the launch of the Wii was to provide the best games as quickly as possible. The lineup of titles from both first and third party developers was respectable, and now that companies are getting the Wii-groove, more and better games are finding their way to store shelves. Read on for some of the best Nintendo Wii games so far!
Best Nintendo Wii Games
The Wii uses a new kind of controller that senses motion in all directions. This means you can play video games like you always wanted to: with your body. The Wii's early lineup is filled with simple, enjoyable games that make good use of this interesting mechanic.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
A no-brainer choice and widely regarded as one of the best games on any system in 2006, Twilight Princess was sold to over 80% of the people who initially bought a Wii. It's been on everyone's "must-have" list for over two years. It's an epic adventure game where you use the Wii remote to swing a sword, aim a bow and arrow and use all types of weapons to explore the land of Hyrule. Help vanquish the mysterious Twilight beasts from the peaceful land and roam across a massive landscape as you enjoy the deep storyline and over 50 hours of gameplay. Check out our The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess Review for tons more info.
Elebits
Possibly one of the quirkiest Wii games thus far, Elebits uses the Wii remote to allow you to manipulate objects in a house, turning them over to find the little creatures called Elebits that power appliances. It's unbelievably fun to run around the house picking up potted plants and dresser drawers and tossing them about the room. You also use the remote to twist and open doors, which is much more satisfying than it may seem. See our Elebits Review for a complete breakdown of the game.
Wario Ware: Smooth Moves
Fast-paced wacky fun is the name of the game. Wario Ware: Smooth Moves puts you (and a friend) in the driver's seat for a series of short mini-games played at breakneck speeds. Hold the remote in countless different positions -- such as at your side like a sword or atop your head like a mohawk -- and move as fast as you can to work through the mini-games. It's a great party game and loads of fun for everyone to try.
Red Steel
One of the more serious games in the early Wii lineup, Red Steel received very mixed reviews from the gaming community. The control style is a bit weird, but once you get the hang of it, it works quite well. This first person shooter takes place in Japan and has you on a quest to rescue a girl kidnapped by the mob. Point and aim your gun with the Wii remote and fight sword battles by swinging it like a real blade. Multiplayer is especially fun and allows up to four people to participate.
Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Playing doctor just became a whole lot more interesting. Using the Wii remote you must perform various surgical procedures on patients in critical condition. It's a surprisingly tough game with some really tense moments sprinkled in to keep you on your toes.
Sonic and the Secret Rings
The famous video game hero of old has returned to his gaming roots in this latest Wii installment. Sonic and the Secret Rings is played on-rails, meaning Sonic runs on a pre-determined path through each stage. Use the Wii remote to avoid obstacles and collect rings as Sonic moves at blinding speeds. The game also includes several dozen mini-games you can play with your friends.
