Beatles Rock Band Special Edition Bundle
From LoveToKnow VideoGames
As you walk into your favorite video game store, you may be wondering why there is such a huge price difference for the Beatles Rock Band Special Edition bundle. Most people already know that the full band kits accompanying rhythm games can be quite pricey compared to standalone games, but the multiple retail package options for The Beatles: Rock Band game can be very confusing.
I Want to Hold Your Hand
Developed by Harmonix Music Systems, published by MTV Games, and distributed by Electronic Arts, The Beatles: Rock Band is one of the most highly anticipated iterations in the Rock Band series. After much negotiation and legal concerns, the Beatles are making their official foray into the music game genre.
With The Beatles: Rock Band, you walk your way through the entire career of the iconic British rock group, visiting many famous venues and locales along the way. The game also features "Dreamscapes" and the likenesses of musicians like Paul McCartney and Ringo Star. Dhani Harrison, son of George Harrison, was one of the major contributors to the game as well.
In terms of how to play The Beatles, this iteration of Rock Band plays like other similar games. A full band consists of a guitar, a bass, vocals, and drums. Up to four players can play simultaneously, hitting notes in time with what is shown on the screen. If you've played other Guitar Hero or Rock Band games, you will be able to play The Beatles: Rock Band.
What Does the Beatles Rock Band Special Edition Bundle Include?
Aside from the huge appeal of the Beatles themselves, one of the other major selling points for this game is the Beatles Rock Band special edition bundle. On the surface, the kit may look like other band kits, but there are differences as well.
It is also very noteworthy that The Beatles: Rock Band is sold in three different retail versions. It is possible to buy the game on its own and use existing instruments, but there are two additional bundles as well.
Limited Edition Premium Bundle
The Limited Edition Premium Bundle of this game comes with nearly a complete set of unique instruments, as well as the game itself.
- The guitar controller that comes with this bundle is styled to look like the Hofner Bass that Paul McCartney played.
- The included drum set is made to look like the Ludwig drum set that Ringo Starr played. This includes the large signage that sits in front of the bass pedal.
- The bundled microphone is a standard Rock Band microphone.
In addition to the three main instruments, the Limited Edition Premium Bundle also comes with a microphone stand and Beatles-themed postcards. Sold separately are a special Rickenbacker 325 guitar controller and a Gretsch Duo Jet guitar controller.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the Premium Bundle is $249.99 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii.
Special Value Edition Bundle
In an effort to attract more budget-minded consumers, the developers of the game also offer a Special Value Edition of the game. This Beatles Rock Band special edition bundle is listed at just $159.99 for the three major consoles, but it does not contain the special Beatles-inspired instrument and bonus materials of the Limited Edition Premium Bundle.
In the Special Value Edition, gamers are provided with the new Beatles game and the same set of instruments as the original game. These unbranded instruments will still work in the new game, but they do not have Beatles branding. This is a more affordable option for gamers who are not interested in spending an extra $90 for the new instruments.
How to Save Money on Rock Band Instruments
Instead of investing in a Beatles Rock Band special edition bundle, it may be a cheaper option to make a bundle of your own. Many retailers have the Rock Band 2 complete band kit on sale for around $100. Add in the Beatles game on its own for $60 and you pay the same price as the Special Value Edition. The difference is you get an extra game and the instruments come from RB2 rather than RB1.
