About Armored Core: Nine Breaker
Armored Core: Nine Breaker is the next in a continuing series of customizable robot mech games. In this addition, all the action is in an arena type environment. You build your AC mech from a large selection of parts and weapons. A training area is available to practice your moves and accuracy. You start at a low rank and work your way up to beat the top robot mech warrior.
Difficulty Level/Modes of Play
Gameplay is single player with a default level of difficulty. In Armored Core: Nine Breaker, you are in one on one challenges with the game’s computer generated ranked opponents, or you can play with a friend in versus mode. A nice feature of the game (called Convert) allows you to upload parts from Armored Core: Nexus.
Fun Factor
This a good edition to the series if you are new to it, like arena challenges or really enjoy customizing your AC robot warrior. Some veterans to the series may find this edition a little dry, as there are no quests or missions to complete. You can get lost in the massive inventory of parts and weapons in the garage section. Unlike the previous Armored Core games, you do not have to earn any points or money to use any of the items in the garage; you have everything from the beginning of the game.
As you move up in rank, more opponents will be available for you to fight. This game does allow you to choose what type of opponent you want to compete with depending on your rank. You can fight challenges against those with long or short distance weapons, heavy or lighter weight etc. The arena location is chosen from a small selection of places. You can also view your win (or loss) to your opponent by viewing a replay from your or the opponent’s prospective.
Replayability and Length of Game
After completion of Armored Core: Nine Breaker, you can continue playing it by customizing different types of robot ACs with different weapons. There is no new levels or bonus items after game completion. Try making it more challenging for yourself by creating one type of mech and try to beat the game again without modifying it in any way. That’s tough.
Graphics and Audio
The graphics in Nine Breaker are not overly impressive. The arena locations are a little plain. The best graphics of the game were put into the robot AC warriors, which look cool.
The music is repetitive, and plays the same theme throughout whenever you are in the menu and garage sections.
Summary
Armored Core: Ninebreaker is a recent edition to the ongoing series of customizable robot mech warriors. It offers an all-encompassing arena based environment, where you can play against computerized opponents. Start at a low rank and work your way up to beat the top robot AC warrior. Customize your robot with a massive selection of parts and weapons. Play against friends, and import parts from Armored Core: Nexus. This is a good game to familiarize yourself with the Armored Core series, but it may not have enough challenge for veteran players since it is strictly arena based and there are no missions to complete.
