To take advantage of Animal Crossing: Wild World’s Wi-Fi capabilities you will need:

Animal Crossing Wide World Cheat Codes for Nintendo DS
  • the system
  • the game
  • an active broadband or DSL internet service
  • either a wireless router or a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector.

You can order the USB Connector direct from Nintendo for $34.95 + shipping at the Nintendo Online Store, and it can be plugged into any PC with USB ports.

Friend Codes & Tag Mode

To connect with other Animal Crossing: Wild World Wi-Fi users, you will need to exchange Friend Codes and Town Names in order to add each other to your separate Friend Rosters. For more information on how to obtain your own code and start visiting other towns, the game’s manual provides very good instructions from pages 33 to 43.

Tag Mode is a lot like playing Phone Tag, but messages are sent via a Note in a Bottle released into the water instead of spoken in an answering machine message. Instructions can be found on page 40 to 41 of the game’s manual and they are very informative.

If you don’t know anyone to play with via Wi-Fi Connection there are several website communities you can visit. Nintendo’s official Animal Crossing: Wild World Gaming Hub can be found at NintendoWiFi.Com or you can go directly to the ACWW Hub by clicking the provided link. Another good site is [DSmeet.Com. There is also [http://www.nintendowfc.com NintendoWFC.Com. Check all three of them out and remember to be safe.

Use the above sites at your own risk. The Internet is not always a friendly place. Watch what you say to others and use caution when someone starts asking you too many specific questions about where you live and who you know in the area.

Safety Tips

Never share your personal information. You never know who will get any Bottle Mail you release during Tag Mode so protect your privacy. Keep your home address, phone number, email address, etc. to yourself.

Use friend codes at your own risk. Be aware that some users have been known to wreck havoc as guests in other towns and can swindle you out of items.

Keep in mind how the game is saved. Whenever someone enters or leaves your town or the town that you are in – the game is saved.

Whenever you choose to open your town gates or when you select party’s over – the game is saved. The same goes for hosts in other towns.

All progress made from the last save is lost if anyone disconnects during game play.

Stopping and Preventing Bad Behavior

Never let unknown guests wander alone. If you do not know a person that is visiting your town, set up some rules with them and never let them out of your sight.

Beware of raiding parties. Some people send a pair of players into a town and while one player keeps the host talking, the other loots the village. To prevent this behavior, always have a trusted friend around when inviting more than one unknown player into your village. With a trusted friend you can both keep an eye on the unknown guests. You can also turn off your system when the Someone’s Leaving icon starts flashing.

Be smart and safe when trading. When trading with someone in a town other than your own, be sure the host drops their item first. As a visitor, if you drop your item first, the host player can always select Party’s Over to get the item without completing the trade. As a host during trading, drop your item then let the visitor follow your lead. If the visitor does not drop their item and tries to make a run for the gates, then disconnect your connection. It’s a good idea to save before trading.

Mind the Rating. This is an E-for Everyone game, but once you’re tapped into the wireless connection – anything goes. Be aware that not everyone wants to be polite and keep things clean. Visitors can send letters and leave messages on your message board, which gives them plenty of opportunities to get an adult-themed message into your game. Just be mindful of your guests and keep an eye on them.

Turning off your Nintendo DS or disconnecting your router will undo all damage caused by a guest as long as you do it before they leave your town and the game is saved.

Games

Axe Tag requires 3 to 4 players and is a lot like Hide-N-Seek. All players must have a timer and either an axe, a shovel or net. Starting at the Town Hall the player who is “it” must us their timer to count to 30 then "tag" one of the other players with one of the previously mentioned tools. The first person tagged is "it" and a new round begins. Buried and hidden Pitfalls can help make this game even more fun.

Treasure Hunt requires 3 to 4 players. With their Town Gates closed, one player buries one item for the other players to find. To throw off the other players, bury trash and pitfalls. You can also bury items to act as both fun bonus prizes, and additional decoys.

Freeze Tag (also known as "Horror Movie") requires 4 players, an axe, and a hockey mask. One player puts on the hockey mask and tries to hit people with the axe. Once hit, a player is frozen/dead and must stay in the same spot until the last person is hit. The last person hit becomes the next “killer”.

Checkers requires 2 players and an 8 x 8 open space on the ground to use as the game board. Each player uses a different type of fruit for game pieces.

Tic-Tac-Toe requires 2 players and a 3 x 3 open space on the ground to use as the game board. Each player uses a different type of fruit for game pieces.

Capture the Flag requires 4 players, one umbrella and each player must have an axe, a shovel or a net to use for tagging. Once a person is tagged they must go back to "homebase", which is whereever you choose it to be. Whoever has possession of the umbrella must hold it at all times or drop it on the ground. The holder of the "flag" cannot put the umbrella in their inventory. The winner is the person to capture the flag - score in what ever way you wish.

Points of Interest

You will have to have at least one visitor purchase something from the Tom Nook shop in your town in order to get the Hair Salon upgrade. AnimalXing.Com is an excellent Animal Crossing site and has a complete Hairstyle Guide, (with pictures), to help you choose the right new look when you finally unlock this feature.

Rare and exotic flowers and trees can be collected from other villages and you can meet new residents. The shops in the town you are visiting will also have a different selection of items to browse.

Because the time and date can be adjusted in Animal Crossing: Wild World, it could be winter in your town and summer in another, which allows you to be able catch the bugs and fish of that season.
