Animal Crossing: Wild World has no defined beginning, no ending and no storyline to follow in-between. It's this open-endedness that makes it so wonderful to play. However, with so many things to do, it's very easy to miss out on some amazing parts of the game. Start off with enough cash and you'll be able to enjoy many more things as your Animal Crossing days slowly pass by.

Animal Crossing: Wild World Beginning

The atmospheric taxi ride at the beginning of the game is actually a clever trick to get information from you. Here you name your village, name yourself and choose whether your character is a boy or a girl. After the rainy ride is over, you're dropped off at Town Hall, ready to explore your new world.

Your first (and only) pre-defined task is to go to work for Tom Nook, the store owner who built your house on a steep loan of nearly 20,000 bells. You'll perform a few basic tasks for him in exchange for a small reduction in your loan. But really it's a tour through the basic features of Animal Crossing: Wild World, allowing you to become familiar with your village and how to play the game. So no, it isn't slavery. Not... really.

Working for Tom Nook

With at least seven open slots in your inventory, drop by Tom's store (check the map you got from Town Hall) and get ready to work. Tom gives you some work clothes you'll need to wear. How thoughtful!

First Job: Gardening

Tom gives you seven plants and orders you to plant them around his store to spruce things up. It doesn't matter where you plant them, as long as they're in the ground, he's happy.

Second Job: Introductions

Now the fiendish raccoon wants you to speak to every animal in the town! Use your map or just wander around until you've spoken to everyone at least once. There are only three or four people at this point, so this isn't a difficult task. Don't worry about shop keepers or the museum, only your neighbors and the Mayor.

Third Job: Speedy Delivery

Next, Nookie-boy gives you furniture and tells you to deliver it to one of your neighbors. Simple. Use the map, hunt down the target and speed away.

Fourth Job: Letters

From delivery person to secretary, Tom now wants you to write a letter to someone. He gives you an addressee and stationary, all you have to do is fill it with text. It doesn't even have to make sense, just plop some characters on the page and head to Town Hall to mail it.

Fifth Job: More Deliveries

Similar to delivering the package earlier, Tom now hands you a carpet and orders you to take it somewhere.

Sixth Job: Water Can

Get the idea with these deliveries? Take the watering can to the addressee.

Seventh Job: Message Board

Head to the Town Hall and look at the message board just outside. Now post something, anything. "Tom is crazy" is a good suggestion.

Eighth Jo---No! Wait!

And finally... you're free! You're cut loose from Tom's reigns and ready to explore Animal Crossing: Wild World.
